KUALA KANGSAR: Education will continue to be among the country\u2019s top priorities despite the global uncertainty caused by the energy crisis, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said this is to ensure that the quality of education for future generations is not affected.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur current stance is to ensure that projects (educational facilities) are approved and implemented immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no reason to delay approved projects, except for large-scale ones that require a longer timeframe.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, smaller projects, especially in education and healthcare, will be prioritised,\u201d he said at a meet-and-greet session with students and alumni of SMK Clifford Kuala Kangsar.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister pointed out that due to conflicts and disputes, many countries channel significant funds towards security.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a result, funding for education tends to be sidelined. Future generations will be affected when the quality of education and its facilities decline,\u201d he said, Bernama reported.<\/p>\n
He said that within the education system, the inculcation of values and proper conduct must not be neglected.<\/p>\n
It should remain a priority among educators in producing a generation with strong morals and character, Anwar added.<\/p>\n
At another event, the Prime Minister said that the foundation of character building and morals should not be ignored while pursuing knowledge.<\/p>\n
\u201cEnsure our education does not leave out the very basic aspects.<\/p>\n
\u201cExcellence must be accompanied by conscience, awareness and enlightenment,\u201d he said in his speech during his visit to Kolej Melayu Kuala Kangsar.<\/p>\n
He said while how information, knowledge and wisdom are being used is important, it is equally crucial that one is able to filter through information.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are all rushing to obtain information, but not all information is knowledge.
