Liverpool have left an empty seat in their dressing room in a touching tribute to Diogo Jota<\/a> after he tragically passed away<\/a> in July. Jota and his brother died in a car accident in Spain and Liverpool<\/a> have retired the No.20 shirt in his honour.<\/p>\n The club have also left his spot in the Anfield dressing room empty as a poignant reminder. There were a number of other emotional tributes to Jota as Liverpool began their new Premier League<\/a> campaign with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n A minute’s silence was held ahead of kick-off, while special mosaics were displayed in the stands in honour of Jota and his brother. Liverpool fans also chanted Jota’s name after the final whistle, a gesture which reduced Mohamed Salah to tears<\/a>.<\/p>\n Federico Chiesa, who scored a crucial late goal to put Liverpool 3-2 up, gave an emotional interview<\/a> after the win. “Above all, at Anfield it seems like in the second half when you attack towards the Kop, it feels like the ball wants to go inside the net,” Chiesa said.<\/p>\n “And today, I want to think that we had also the help of Diogo and his brother up there. The goal was for him. In my mind, I think that Diogo was somewhere in here helping me to score this goal. I’d like to think like that. He’s always with us, he’s going to be with us.<\/p>\n “It was tough today but there was a great atmosphere, the fans were amazing throughout the game. Also, I’m really grateful for the song they’re singing. Really, really emotional.”<\/p>\n Liverpool boss Arne Slot<\/a> also revealed that he would have turned to Jota as they searched for a late goal against Bournemouth<\/a>. “Normally at 2-2 everyone knows which player I look to at that moment in time,” Slot said.<\/p>\n “I would have loved to bring in Diogo Jota, but I could not for terrible reasons. But tonight the fans and the players did what he did for us many times in the past.<\/p>\n “Bournemouth faced a team that never gave up.
