Sources said Guinness deliveries have been made this week, but that does not tally with what some publicans said they have experienced on the ground.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, many customers are staying away from town.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe footfall is way down. There is no traffic coming down the quay and the buses can\u2019t get across,\u201d Mr O\u2019Brien said.<\/p>\n
The situation is piling pressure on small city-centre businesses, he said.<\/p>\n

He was hopeful a deal to end the protests would be reached, but said that it would require engagement by both sides.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe they (the protesters) could\u2019ve done it differently, but that\u2019s what politicians get paid for,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
At the Arlington Hotel on Bachelors Walk, the protest has been a mixed blessing, as some of the protesters have booked into the hotel.<\/p>\n
However, manager Mags Shannon said beer was not being delivered.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlcohol deliveries from the likes of Diageo and Heineken are supposed to be today, but so far, we haven\u2019t gotten anything,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are a big premises and have stock, but how long we can last is a guessing game.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a sister property that we have had to taxi the stock from.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Shannon said some of the protesters had been in for food and lodgings.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had a lot of protesters come in for breakfast. I had lads from Louth who came in for breakfast and then came in for dinner last night. This morning we served about 30 breakfasts,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Other businesses in the area said they were not receiving deliveries.<\/p>\n
The Rolling Donut at the bottom of O\u2019Connell Street said milk and other products, such as packaging and coffee cups, were not being delivered.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last delivery for milk was two days ago,\u201d a staff member said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had to buy milk in the shops, which is more expensive.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there is no delivery, it is going to be very bad for business, because we have to order larger products such as packaging.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maurice Doyle, the manager at Banba Toymaster on Mary Street, said there were no deliveries and that footfall had reduced over the last few days.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had a number of deliveries cancelled. I suppose it\u2019s more the logistics companies who don\u2019t want to be stuck in traffic and wasting petrol,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the last two days, there has been a decrease in footfall. People are just not coming into town. They can\u2019t get in on the bus or Luas.\u201d<\/p>\n
At The Bakehouse cafe on Bacherlors Walk, a manager said sales were down 20pc to 30pc since the protests in the city centre began.<\/p>\n
In response to the protests, Dublin City Council said it \u201cwould like to remind the public that the city centre remains open for business, despite disruption caused by the current fuel protests\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe council\u2019s traffic control room is actively monitoring the location of the protests and the impact that they are having on traffic,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
\u201cVehicle movements are impaired in the city core, with O\u2019Connell Street continuing to be completely blocked.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere it is possible, adjustments are being made to the traffic signals via our traffic-management system to keep movement through the network as smooth as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout the demonstration, we have remained in contact with bus and Luas operators to provide assistance as required.
