The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI<\/a>) has issued a recall notice for a popular batch of chicken fillets following the detection of salmonella<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pettitt’s Cook at Home Basil and Pesto Chicken Fillets, carrying a use-by date of 30\/03\/2026, is being withdrawn from shops. The ready-to-cook fillets are priced at \u20ac5.49.<\/p>\n

According to the FSAI website: “The above batch of Pettitt’s Cook at Home Basil and Pesto Chicken Fillets is being recalled due to the presence of Salmonella. Although the implicated batch is past its use by date, the product is suitable for home freezing. Consumers<\/a> are advised to check their freezers for the implicated batch. Recall notices will be displayed at the point of sale.”<\/p>\n

Shoppers are being warned against consuming the affected batch owing to bacterial contamination.<\/p>\n

Those infected with Salmonella generally experience symptoms within 12 to 36 hours of infection, though this can vary from 6 to 72 hours. Diarrhoea is the most frequent symptom, which may occasionally contain blood, reports RSVP Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additional symptoms can include fever, headache and stomach cramps. The condition typically persists for 4 to 7 days. In some cases, diarrhoea can become serious enough to necessitate hospitalisation. Elderly people, babies, and individuals with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of severe illness.<\/p>\n

The FSAI has additionally issued a recall warning for certain batches of Tesco Finest Summer Edition Chocolate Affogato Dessert owing to potential plastic contamination.<\/p>\n

Every batch carrying a best-before date up to and including April 2027 is subject to this recall. Customers are strongly urged to avoid consuming any of the affected batches.<\/p>\n

Notices regarding the recall will be prominently displayed at the point of sale in all Tesco stores.<\/p>\n
