{"id":42928,"date":"2025-09-04T11:12:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T11:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/42928\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T11:12:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T11:12:06","slug":"graham-linehan-in-london-court-over-alleged-harassment-of-trans-woman-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/42928\/","title":{"rendered":"Graham Linehan in London court over alleged harassment of trans woman \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Father Ted creator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/graham-linehan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/graham-linehan\">Graham Lineh<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/graham-linehan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/graham-linehan\">an<\/a> is facing trial at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court on Thursday, accused of harassing transgender activist Sophia Brooks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He has denied one count of harassing the activist on social media and a further charge of damaging her mobile phone in October.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Proceedings were delayed this morning due to technical difficulties playing video evidence in the court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Linehan sat behind glass in the dock, dressed in a grey blazer and white shirt. Court staff gave him an ear piece so he could properly hear proceedings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Both sides agreed that Linehan\u2019s counsel will refer to the complainant as a man, and prosecution will refer to the complainant by female pronouns.
