{"id":434807,"date":"2026-04-14T14:31:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T14:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/434807\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T14:31:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T14:31:18","slug":"why-anthropics-new-mythos-ai-model-has-washington-and-wall-street-worked-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/434807\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Anthropic&#8217;s new Mythos AI model has Washington and Wall Street worked up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n         Published on<br \/>\n            14\/04\/2026 &#8211; 12:07 GMT+2\n            <\/p>\n<p>Anthropic is in discussions with the US government over its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/next\/2026\/04\/08\/why-anthropics-most-powerful-ai-model-mythos-preview-is-too-dangerous-for-public-release\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>new Mythos AI model<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> which the company has said is too powerful to release to the public as it &#8220;poses unprecedented cybersecurity risks&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-stacked-outlined-72x72-grey-9.svg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n          ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-stacked-outlined-72x72-grey-9.svg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n          ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>The banking industry is also sounding the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government has to know \u200babout this stuff,\u201d Anthropic\u2019s co-founder said on Monday at the Semafor World Economy event in Washington. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbsolutely, we&#8217;re talking to them about \u200bMythos, and we&#8217;ll talk to them about the next models as well,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Referencing the public dispute with the government, which led to the company being labelled a supply-chain risk last month, he said, \u201cI don&#8217;t want \u200bthat to get in the way of the fact that we \u200bcare deeply about national security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The supply-chain risk designation followed the collapse of negotiations over Anthropic&#8217;s efforts to limit how the US defense department can use its AI models.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent convened a meeting of senior American bankers in Washington to discuss the Mythos model last week.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting encouraged the banking executive to use Antropic\u2019s Mythos model to detect vulnerabilities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-04-10\/wall-street-banks-try-out-anthropic-s-mythos-as-us-urges-testing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\">according to Bloomberg<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Anthropic also said it would limit the release of its new AI model to a few tech and cybersecurity firms.
