PHOTO: Sabrina Ffrench<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">There was great celebration in Valentia Nursing Home in Camolin last week as friends and families gathered around to celebrate a milestone birthday of one of their residents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Carmel Carroll, who was born in Dublin and lived there until nine years ago before she came to live with her nieces Jacinta and Edel in Gorey, has been a resident in Valentia Nursing Home since Monday, March 31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Carmel celebrated her 102nd Birthday with a special tea Party, surrounded by family, friends and her special friends from St. Aidans Day Care, Elderflower Unit, Gorey. The tea with a special cake was enjoyed by all while Carmel also received her commemorative medal from the President Michael D Higgins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">According to her nieces Edel and Jacinta, Camel believes her secret to a long life and happiness is regular exercise, good food and keeping the mind active. A such, she spends a great time knitting and up to recently did puzzles. She also loves the cooking programmes on the TV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Faith has also played a very important part in her life and she has consistently had a great sense of humour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Carmel Carroll celebrating turning 102 with family, friends and staff in Valentia Nursing Home Camolin.
