KTM announced a new, more extreme version of its Super Duke, featuring upgraded suspension, advanced brakes, a full suite of electronics, and a claimed 25 pounds of weight savings. The KTM 1390 Super Duke RR will arrive in European dealerships this spring as a 2026 model. U.S. availability has not been confirmed as of this writing, but if it does become available, we expect it will be as a 2027 model.<\/p>\n

2024 KTM 1390 Super Duke R EVO Review \u2013 First Ride<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n 2021 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR First Look<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The Super Duke last received a double-R variant in <\/a> 2021<\/a>, back when it was still a 1290, so it was no real surprise to see the naked bike get the same treatment with KTM’s current 1390 platform. When he tested the 1390 Super Duke R EVO<\/a>, Troy Siahaan said it “increases the ridiculousness to another level.” So, how much more extreme can KTM get?<\/p>\n For starters, the RR makes extensive use of carbon fiber, helping bring the claimed wet weight (but without fuel, as KTM stubbornly continues to count) of 417 pounds, compared to the 442 claimed for the Super Duke R.<\/p>\n The 1390 Super Duke RR also receives a premium WP Pro Components suspension system, replacing the WP APEX suspension on the single-R model (and the semi-active suspension on the EVO version). The front wheel is supported by a racing-focused closed cartridge spring fork with manually adjustable compression and rebound damping. KTM claims the internally pressurized reservoir provides consistent oil pressure, ensuring precise damping, while lightweight materials reduce overall weight while improving rigidity and feedback. The WP 8750 rear shock was developed specifically for the RR, employing a new 50mm shock piston and 14mm piston rod for smoother, more consistent operation under heavy loads. The shock is fully adjustable, including independent high- and low-speed compression.<\/p>\n KTM also gave the braking system some love, equipping the Super Duke RR with Brembo HyPure four-piston monobloc calipers. Along with a claimed 0.22 pounds of weight savings compared to the regular Super Duke’s Stylema M4.30 calipers, KTM claims the RR requires 10% less lever force and 50% less lever travel. The front brakes are matched with 320mm floating discs, while the rear wheel uses a 240mm disc and two-piston floating caliper. The hand levers are also adjustable, and both brake and clutch lines are self-venting for easier maintenance.<\/p>\n The 1390 Super Duke RR features forged wheels with a seven-spoke design inspired by KTM’s RC16 MotoGP racebike. KTM claims they each weigh 3.3 pounds less than the cast wheels on the single-R models. The wheels come fitted with street-legal Michelin Power GP tires (also standard on the other Super Duke variants).<\/p>\n KTM left the 1,350cc LC8 V-Twin engine unchanged, with the same 190 hp at 10,000 rpm and 107 lb-ft. at 8,000 rpm claims as the regular Super Dukes. The RR does come standard with a titanium Akrapovi\u010d slip-on for weight savings and a more aggressive sound.<\/p>\n The Super Duke RR comes standard with the Tech Pack\u00a0electronics suite, which includes a bidirectional quickshifter, engine brake control, motor slip regulation, wheelie control, launch control, adjustable traction control, and selectable ride modes. The Tech Pack also includes a Track mode and a new Beast mode designed only for the RR. Beast mode reduces all the electronic aids to their least intrusive levels that still meet local street legal requirements (like ABS and traction control in EU markets).<\/p>\n KTM will produce only 350 units of the 1390 Super Duke RR for 2026. In the U.K., the RR is priced at \u00a324,999 (US$33,900), compared to \u00a317,799 for the Super Duke R and \u00a319,499 for the Super Duke R EVO.
