Lambrini Girls<\/a>\u2019 Phoebe Lunny has\u00a0shared a story of a harassment case after she called out a \u201cdodgy\u201d male musician.<\/p>\n

The singer\u00a0opened up\u00a0about the case during an appearance on the\u00a0A View From A Bridge online show, on which people share personal stories as they talk into a red telephone on a bridge somewhere in a public space. Previous guests have included Shame\u2019s Charlie Steen<\/a>, Biffy Clyro<\/a>\u2018s Simon Neil, Cynthia Erivo, Riz Ahmed <\/a>and Niall Horan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lunny\u2019s episode premiered earlier today (April 20), and it saw her speak about a harassment case that was brought against her after she opted to call out a \u201creally dodgy\u201d male musician, but found herself being arrested and facing six months in jail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was on a run, and I\u00a0get\u00a0a call from a blocked ID and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0the police, and they told me that I had a harassment case against me and that I had to come into the police station to be interviewed,\u201d Lunny began. \u201cSo obviously,\u00a0I didn\u2019t know what the fuck they were talking about, so I got in an Uber and when I got to the police station, they arrested me on the spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis happened because I took the liberty of emailing a handful of promoters, saying, \u2018hey, I\u2019ve just seen you\u2019ve got this band on your bill, there\u2019s a guy in it, he\u2019s known to be really dodgy, if you want your gig to be a safe space for women, take him off the bill\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lunny went on to explain that the musician found out about her actions and reported her. \u201cI just got put in a cell, and I was just crying because I was so confused and obviously, I didn\u2019t even think that something like that could happen from sending a couple of emails,\u201d she continued. \u201cLike it\u2019s fucking insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said the case was eventually dropped, but she was made to write a letter of apology to the man as part of \u2018community resolution\u2019, stating \u201chow\u00a0I was wrong,\u00a0stating\u00a0that I had no idea what I was doing, and how selfish I was.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I think it\u2019s a really good example of is how even laws which are there in place to protect women can be exploited and used for a man\u2019s benefit,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd I think this is also part of the hugely misogynistic rhetoric which is used by the manosphere, and how they are constantly whining and victimising themselves about the system being stacked up against them, and it\u2019s women\u2019s fault.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich is bullshit, because the system is there to aid and to protect dangerous men, and what I think you see a lot, especially after that Louis Theroux documentary<\/a> came out, is guys online actively condemning this misogynistic viewpoint, which is amazing and we need that, but if they could put the same amount of passion into actually advocating for women, instead of being like, \u2018I\u2019m not like him!\u2019 \u2013 what if you actually did something about it? Instead of just letting women be the ones who have to fucking deal with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause the system does work for men and I think there are a lot of men out there who do call themselves an ally, but if they could actually just use their privilege, that\u2019s gonna make way more of a change than us just all kind of wagging our fingers at Andrew Tate because he\u2019s got mummy issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

She suggested that practical ways that men can be better allies include \u201cnot\u00a0laughing\u00a0at rape jokes\u201d and speaking to friends if they are \u201cwatching weird fucking incel videos on Discord.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s 2026 and women are still having to scream at the top of their lungs. One out of three women have been sexually assaulted or will be sexually assaulted in their lifetimes, and we\u2019re all focusing and centering the men still,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

After the episode was shared, Lunny herself replied to the post, writing: \u201cNo individuals are named or intentionally identified. I do not want, nor am I encouraging others to find out names, that would [put] me in trouble. Please take my experience as a reflection of the systematic issues women face daily. Thank u for all the amazing messages of support xxxx\u201d<\/p>\n

Lambrini Girls were recently forced to pull out of Coachella and reschedule their North American tour<\/a>\u00a0after Lunny sustained a neck fracture and an \u201cacute brain injury\u201d.<\/p>\n

They also recently\u00a0shared a tongue-in-cheek new single called \u2018Cult Of Celebrity\u2019,<\/a>\u00a0which saw them take aim at the corruption among the elite.<\/p>\n

That followed on from them sharing their debut album \u2018Who Let The Dogs Out<\/a>\u2018 last year. NME\u00a0praised that record in a five-star review<\/a>, writing: \u201cWith \u2018Who Let The Dogs Out\u2019, Lambrini Girls prove punk is alive and kicking.
