Kal Penn has shared a significant update on Harold & Kumar 4, confirming that the long-awaited sequel is currently in development. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Penn indicated that the project is actively moving forward, with the writing process already underway.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the possibility of returning to the franchise, Penn said, \u201cAnytime somebody asks me, are we doing a fourth one? I always think of all the like the joyous stuff that we got to work on because of it.\u201d He then provided a clearer update on the film\u2019s progress, stating, \u201cSo Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who created the franchise, are writing the fourth movie with Josh Heald, who they created Cobra Kai with\u2026 and we\u2019re hoping to make a fourth movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further added, \u201cThey\u2019re writing it right now. Yeah, I\u2019ve seen the outline. They walked me through the outline. It\u2019s\u2026 I hope we get to make this thing. It\u2019s very, very fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project is being developed by Hurwitz and Schlossberg, who are collaborating once again with Josh Heald. The trio is also expected to bring the film to Lionsgate\u2019s Mandate Pictures, with Hurwitz and Schlossberg set to direct. Penn and John Cho are expected to return, although official agreements are yet to be finalized. It is not yet confirmed whether Neil Patrick Harris will reprise his role from the earlier films.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, in a prior statement, Hurwitz and Schlossberg said, \u201cWe\u2019re fired up to bring Harold and Kumar back in a return to the unapologetically R-rated, smoke-filled chaos that started it all. It\u2019s high time they puff and pass their wisdom onto a new generation. Just don\u2019t tell their kids (via The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>).\u201d<\/p>\n
