This is my final article on takeaways, and instead of a top 10 \u2013 I\u2019ve too many favourites \u2013 here are the places that stood out.<\/p>\n<p>Fish and chips<img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Fish and Chips from AndChips\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/JMGCB7ZLKZCCBMSJ6S2USN6WTA.jpg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"715\"\/>Fish and Chips from AndChips <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Eunice Power opened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/04\/13\/andchips-review-takeaway-of-the-year-serving-off-the-charts-fish-and-chips-for-a-tenner\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/04\/13\/andchips-review-takeaway-of-the-year-serving-off-the-charts-fish-and-chips-for-a-tenner\/\">AndChips<\/a> on the Quays in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, in 2019, serving only wild Irish fish, a model for how fish and chips should be done. Also excellent is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/03\/01\/fish-cork-takeaway-review-smart-new-fish-and-chip-shop-serves-up-deliciously-fresh-and-generous-portions\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/03\/01\/fish-cork-takeaway-review-smart-new-fish-and-chip-shop-serves-up-deliciously-fresh-and-generous-portions\/\">Fish<\/a> on MacCurtain Street, Cork, where the fritto misto and cod and chips are the things to order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/08\/23\/takeaway-of-the-week-little-saltee-fresh-fish-straight-from-the-boats-is-well-worth-the-wait\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/08\/23\/takeaway-of-the-week-little-saltee-fresh-fish-straight-from-the-boats-is-well-worth-the-wait\/\">Little Saltee<\/a> in Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford is top notch. For seafood, there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/08\/11\/takeaway-review-a-food-truck-in-a-pub-garden-worth-seeking-out\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/08\/11\/takeaway-review-a-food-truck-in-a-pub-garden-worth-seeking-out\/\">Julia\u2019s Lobster Truck<\/a> in Ennistymon, Co Clare, with scampi po\u2019 boy, and lobster and chips; and in Letterfrack, Co Galway, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/08\/04\/this-is-by-far-the-best-crab-i-have-eaten-all-year\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/08\/04\/this-is-by-far-the-best-crab-i-have-eaten-all-year\/\">Snappy Snappy<\/a> is the spot for crab rolls.<\/p>\n<p>Pizza<img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Bambino in Dublin 2. Photograph: Chris Maddaloni <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/06\/14\/gra-pizza-takeaway-review-absolutely-stunning-sourdough-pizza-served-from-a-converted-horsebox\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/06\/14\/gra-pizza-takeaway-review-absolutely-stunning-sourdough-pizza-served-from-a-converted-horsebox\/\">Gr\u00e1 Pizza<\/a> in the North Kildare Sports Club in Maws does great pies such as The Flann O\u2019Brien with Ballymakenny potatoes and cheese. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">In Dublin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/08\/17\/doom-slice-takeaway-review-detroit-style-pizza-with-a-deliciously-addictive-crunchy-cheesy-crust\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/08\/17\/doom-slice-takeaway-review-detroit-style-pizza-with-a-deliciously-addictive-crunchy-cheesy-crust\/\">Doom Slice<\/a>\u2019s Detroit-style is finished with a cheesy frico crust; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/01\/26\/mani-pizza-review-this-slice-of-pizza-has-gone-viral-is-it-worth-the-hype\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/01\/26\/mani-pizza-review-this-slice-of-pizza-has-gone-viral-is-it-worth-the-hype\/\">Mani<\/a> on Drury Street is famous for its carbonara slice; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/02\/10\/bambino-review-seriously-good-new-york-style-pizza-by-the-slice\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/02\/10\/bambino-review-seriously-good-new-york-style-pizza-by-the-slice\/\">Bambino<\/a> on Stephen Street Lower serves classic New York-style slices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">In Galway, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2025\/01\/17\/dough-bros-takeaway-review-classic-neapolitan-pizzas-with-great-local-twists\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2025\/01\/17\/dough-bros-takeaway-review-classic-neapolitan-pizzas-with-great-local-twists\/\">Dough Bros<\/a> use The Wooded Pig\u2019s pepperoni on the Pepp Guardi-Jala \u2013 a classic.<\/p>\n<p>Middle Eastern, Turkish and Afghani food <img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Chiya in Dublin 2\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SBC573RWEVHTRHZY2PQMQMZVYY.jpeg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"600\"\/>Chiya in Dublin 2 <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/review\/2024\/12\/06\/chiya-dame-street-takeaway-review-these-berlin-style-doner-kebabs-are-amazing\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/review\/2024\/12\/06\/chiya-dame-street-takeaway-review-these-berlin-style-doner-kebabs-are-amazing\/\">Chiya<\/a> on Dawson Street in Dublin 2 serves Berlin-style kebabs grilled on vertical rotisserie spits. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/02\/10\/passion4food-review-order-these-kebabs-for-dinner-not-on-the-way-home-after-the-pub\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/02\/10\/passion4food-review-order-these-kebabs-for-dinner-not-on-the-way-home-after-the-pub\/\">Passion4Food<\/a> on Clanbrassil Street Lower has the same sight: chicken and lamb doner kebabs on the vertical grill. At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/04\/19\/dgrill-takeaway-review-a-wonderful-taste-of-afghanistan\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/04\/19\/dgrill-takeaway-review-a-wonderful-taste-of-afghanistan\/\">D\u2019Grill<\/a> on Aungier Street, Dublin 2, the mantos (steamed dumplings) are filled with lightly spiced minced beef and onions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/04\/21\/takeaway-review-beyond-shawarma-and-kebabs-the-lure-of-unusual-dishes-is-hard-to-resist\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/04\/21\/takeaway-review-beyond-shawarma-and-kebabs-the-lure-of-unusual-dishes-is-hard-to-resist\/\">Yalla<\/a> in Dundrum goes beyond shawarma with standout baba ganoush and kibbeh bil laban.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/03\/15\/umi-falafel-takeaway-review-great-middle-eastern-food-that-is-particularly-good-value\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/03\/15\/umi-falafel-takeaway-review-great-middle-eastern-food-that-is-particularly-good-value\/\">Umi Falafel<\/a> now has branches in Dublin, Cork and Belfast offering notably good value for their falafel wraps.<\/p>\n<p>Burgers and barbecue<img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Mad Egg's Chicken Burger\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/CSOAHIBRUZCRXI66Q35XXHLFV4.jpg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"533\"\/>Mad Egg&#8217;s Chicken Burger <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/10\/06\/takeaway-review-spectacularly-good-smash-burgers-and-skin-on-fries-to-die-for\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/10\/06\/takeaway-review-spectacularly-good-smash-burgers-and-skin-on-fries-to-die-for\/\">Dash Burger<\/a> on Kevin Street Lower in Dublin 8 does first-rate smash burgers, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/05\/17\/burger-cartel-takeaway-review-sizzling-burgers-and-steak-frites-in-d4-if-you-get-there-on-time\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/05\/17\/burger-cartel-takeaway-review-sizzling-burgers-and-steak-frites-in-d4-if-you-get-there-on-time\/\">The Burger Cartel<\/a> in Herbert Park, Dublin 4 (and other markets) does grilled burgers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2023\/11\/10\/exceptionally-good-free-range-chicken-burgers-crunchy-on-the-outside-and-juicy-inside\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2023\/11\/10\/exceptionally-good-free-range-chicken-burgers-crunchy-on-the-outside-and-juicy-inside\/\">Mad Egg<\/a> on Charlotte Way, Dublin 2, fries free-range chicken to order. In Walkinstown and Tallaght, Ian Ussher makes a good Korean fried chicken at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/02\/10\/cluck-chicken-review-chicken-burgers-loaded-with-flavour-from-a-food-truck-with-a-great-set-up\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/2023\/02\/10\/cluck-chicken-review-chicken-burgers-loaded-with-flavour-from-a-food-truck-with-a-great-set-up\/\">Cluck<\/a>. In Letterkenny, Co Donegal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2025\/06\/13\/the-dirty-souls-letterkenny-takeaway-review-low-and-slow-tastes-of-the-deep-south-in-the-northwest\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2025\/06\/13\/the-dirty-souls-letterkenny-takeaway-review-low-and-slow-tastes-of-the-deep-south-in-the-northwest\/\">The Dirty Souls<\/a> do Texas-style brisket.<\/p>\n<p>Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nepalese<img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Takeaway from Tadka House\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/XJ7MAZDAOBF5VFNIGXELPL3YKA.jpg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"600\"\/>Takeaway from Tadka House <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/review\/2024\/05\/24\/sumis-kitchen-takeaway-review-food-truck-serving-great-indian-street-food-draws-a-crowd-in-dublin-4\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/review\/2024\/05\/24\/sumis-kitchen-takeaway-review-food-truck-serving-great-indian-street-food-draws-a-crowd-in-dublin-4\/\">Sumi\u2019s Kitchen<\/a> at Ryan\u2019s pub in Beggar\u2019s Bush, Dublin 4, the tawa pulao \u2013 spiced rice with vegetables \u2013 is a hit. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/04\/12\/al-khair-the-samosas-here-are-a-real-standout\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/04\/12\/al-khair-the-samosas-here-are-a-real-standout\/\">Al Khair<\/a> at the mosque on the South Circular Road turns out really good lamb nihari.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/02\/16\/tadka-house-rathmines-takeaway-review-indian-food-with-really-tasty-vegetarian-options\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/food\/restaurants\/2024\/02\/16\/tadka-house-rathmines-takeaway-review-indian-food-with-really-tasty-vegetarian-options\/\">Tadka House<\/a> in Rathmines, Dublin 6 and Blanchardstown kicks up the heat with its Jaipuri laal maas, lamb in a sauce of Mathania chillies. Pies, such as Beef and Beamish, come with buttery mash.
