{"id":450956,"date":"2026-04-24T03:52:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T03:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/450956\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T03:52:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T03:52:26","slug":"estate-agents-using-ai-to-sell-houses-another-slap-in-the-face-for-buyers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/450956\/","title":{"rendered":"Estate agents using AI to sell houses &#8216;another slap in the face for buyers&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Estate agents using photos altered by AI to sell houses is \u201canother kind of slap in the face for buyers\u201d, a property expert has argued.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The practice is increasingly in common, with a plethora of extremely smart looking homes being advertised on property websites.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, viewers will find in real life that the house looks nothing like what is advertised and in fact needs a lot of tender loving care.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newstalk.com\/shows\/lunchtime-live-234859\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Lunchtime Live<\/b><\/a>, Ciaran Mulqueen of the Crazy House Prices Instagram account admitted AI is \u201cnot the biggest problem\u201d facing the housing market but said buyers are right to find it annoying.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat&#8217;s always going to be down to a lack of supply,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo other industries and no other services or anything like that can falsely advertise &#8211; there&#8217;s standards there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf somebody is selling a vegetarian sandwich, they can&#8217;t put meat in it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhereas with housing, it just seems like they can say and now show whatever they like and it&#8217;s just \u2018buyer beware\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mulqueen continued that what started with the photoshopping of blue skies has become much more serious under AI.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s evolving into adding on extensions, putting in gardens that don&#8217;t exist, this kind of thing,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike I saw one where they had furniture in there that just physically would not fit in the room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess that the justification is some people maybe are not able to visualise that themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel that&#8217;s a bit very belittling of people;
