{"id":45252,"date":"2025-09-05T12:39:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T12:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/45252\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T12:39:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T12:39:13","slug":"frontrunner-for-guehi-revealed-as-latest-euro-giant-join-to-take-advantage-of-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/45252\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Frontrunner&#8217; for Guehi revealed as &#8216;latest&#8217; Euro giant &#8216;join&#8217; to &#8216;take advantage&#8217; of &#8216;collapse&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to reports, Liverpool face competition from five European clubs in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/liverpool\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Liverpool<\/strong> <\/a>had a near-perfect summer transfer window as they were comfortably<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/biggest-summer-spenders-2025-transfer-window-football\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> the biggest spending club in Europe, investing around \u00a3415m on signings.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike were among Liverpool\u2019s marquee signings, though they missed out on Guehi.<\/p>\n<p>The England international was widely reported to be Liverpool\u2019s top centre-back target in the summer and he was available for a cut-price fee of around \u00a335m as he is in the final year of his contract.<\/p>\n<p>This would have been a bargain as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/tag\/marc-guehi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Guehi<\/strong> <\/a>has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons and it was reported that he only wanted Liverpool amid interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/mailbox-pif-humiliated-newcastle-liverpool-isak-transfer-saga\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle owners helped \u2018humiliate\u2019 them in Liverpool, Alexander Isak transfer saga<\/a><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Liverpool and Crystal Palace reached an agreement over Guehi on deadline day, though the deal fell through at the eleventh hour as Oliver Glasner\u2019s side pulled the plug.
