\n\tThe Kunchacko Boban<\/a> and Lijomol Jose psychological thriller from India\u2019s T-Series<\/a> and Panorama Studios<\/a> has confirmed its title as \u201cUnmadham<\/a>,\u201d a Malayalam-language word meaning \u201cfrenzy.\u201d The producers unveiled a first look poster on Saturday for the film, and an August release date.<\/p>\n

\n\tHelmed by Kiran Das, \u201cUnmadham\u201d marks the feature directorial debut of one of Malayalam cinema\u2019s most prominent editors. Das is a Kerala State Film Award winner for \u201cIshq\u201d who has cut a string of acclaimed titles including \u201cThondimuthalum Driksakshiyum,\u201d \u201cJoji,\u201d \u201cMoothon,\u201d \u201cRomancham,\u201d \u201cRorschach,\u201d \u201cJoseph,\u201d and \u201cEla Veezha Poonchira.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe screenplay comes from Indian National Film Award-winning writer Shahi Kabir, who previously worked with Boban on \u201cOfficer On Duty\u201d and is also known for \u201cNayattu\u201d and \u201cJoseph.\u201d The story centers on a police constable whose already strained domestic life grows more precarious when he reopens a cold case with apparent supernatural dimensions, his grip on reality loosening the deeper he investigates.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018Unmadham\u2019 is about the frenzy that builds quietly within a person. My character is torn between responsibility and doubt, and as the case unfolds, his world begins to shift in unexpected ways. It\u2019s a role that demanded emotional intensity and restraint at the same time,\u201d Boban said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat excited me about \u2018Unmadham\u2019 is the tension at its heart \u2013 a simple police constable reopening a forgotten case that slowly begins to consume his life and sanity. At Panorama Studios, we believe in backing stories that challenge and engage viewers, and \u2018Unmadham\u2019 is exactly that \u2013 gripping, unpredictable, and rooted in powerful performances,\u201d said Abhishek Pathak, producer at Panorama Studios.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018Unmadham\u2019 is the kind of story that stays with you; it\u2019s layered with psychological intensity and emotionally grounded narrative. The film\u2019s unique blend of suspense with human conflict, set against a gripping investigative backdrop is what makes it a compelling cinematic experience,\u201d said Bhushan Kumar, chair and managing director of T-Series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWith \u2018Unmadham,\u2019 we wanted to create an experience that keeps the audience constantly questioning what is real and what isn\u2019t. It\u2019s a film that builds tension in a very grounded way. Collaborating with T-Series on this slate has allowed us to scale these stories and reach a wider audience,\u201d said Kumar Mangat Pathak, chair of Panorama Studios.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe score is by Mujeeb Majeed (\u201cKishkindha Kandam\u201d), action is by Kalai Kingson (\u201cMarco,\u201d \u201cBhramayugam\u201d) and Arjun Seth serves as cinematographer. Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar present alongside Panorama Studios; Ram Mirchandani and Rajesh Menon co-produce, with Abhinav Mehrotra as creative producer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cUnmadham\u201d is part of the joint Malayalam slate assembled by T-Series and Panorama Studios, which released \u201cAnomie,\u201d starring Rehman and Bhavana, earlier this year and has Asif Ali starrer \u201cTikitaka\u201d upcoming. Panorama Studios has also entered a Malayalam co-production partnership with actor-producer Nivin Pauly<\/a>, and struck distribution alliances with Century Films and overseas distributor Phars Film. \u201cUnmadham\u201d opens in cinemas Aug. 7.<\/p>\n
