That’s why the weekends are prime binge-watching time in my household, and where I’m able to really tear through episode after episode.

Fortunately, Netflix has plenty to offer. There’s the return of one of 2025’s most pleasant surprises, the charming (and breezy) sports comedy, “Running Point.” And there’s also the first (of probably many) “Stranger Things” spinoff, in the animated form of “Tales from ‘85.” Oh, and if you haven’t made time for “Beef” season 2 yet, what are you waiting for? This anthology series has a bit of “The White Lotus” about it, and stars a particularly impressive cast.

These are the latest arrivals on the world’s biggest streaming service that look worthy of your precious Netflix binge-watching time this weekend.

‘Running Point’ season 2

“Running Point” was an unexpected delight last year, and I’m thrilled to see the sports comedy return for a second season. It’s a really easy binge-watch, perfect if you’re looking for a comforting Netflix series.

It’s by no means the streamer’s most prestigious offering. It keeps things pretty breezy. However, Kate Hudson has charisma for days as Isla Gordon, a former party girl who has to step up to the plate and take charge of her family business, the struggling Los Angeles Waves (please forgive me for using a baseball term to refer to a show about basketball).

In “Running Point” season 2, Isla is still dealing with family drama off the court, including the return of her brother Cam (Justin Theroux), who has ideas of his own about how to run the team. Meanwhile, on the court, the Waves are making a play for the world championship.

Watch “Running Point” season 2 on Netflix now

‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’

Did you think that Netflix was going to let “Stranger Things” go quietly into that good night? Of course not, the juggernaut sci-fi adventure show will probably be further milked for years to come. Expect plenty of spin-offs and further attempts to recapture the magic once again.

The first of these attempts is “Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85,” an animated series that is set between the main show’s second and third series. It stars all of your favorite characters, including Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Max, Lucas and Will. Although it should be noted that none of the original cast return to voice their animated counterparts, which is a little surprising.

“Stranger Things” creator The Duffer Brothers have noted that this show aims to capture the feeling of an ‘80s morning cartoon, but the early reviews (67% from critics, 49% from viewers, on Rotten Tomatoes) suggest that “Tales from ‘85” is only sporadically successful.

Watch “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” on Netflix now

‘Beef’ season 2

Netflix is hoping to have a “White Lotus” sized hit on its hands with “Beef.” This comedy-drama series is taking a similar anthology approach with a follow-up season that is narratively unconnected, and anchored by a new cast, but taps into the same themes.

“Beef” season 2 stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Cailee Spaeny, Charles Melton, and Youn Yuh-jung.
