Diogo Jota<\/a>\u2018s family, including wife Rute and his and brother Andre Silva\u2019s parents, were in attendance as Wolves<\/a> paid an emotional tribute on Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Wolves<\/a> kicked off their Premier League<\/a> campaign at home to Man City<\/a>, and used the occasion to mark the life of their former striker and his brother.<\/p>\n

Their parents, Isabel and Joaquim Silva, were invited to Molineux along with Jota\u2019s wife Rute, who sat in the stands alongside his former Wolves<\/a> teammate and close friend Ruben Neves.<\/p>\n

A stunning tifo of Jota\u2019s image, stretching the height of the South Bank, was raised before kickoff along with a banner reading \u2018we\u2019ll remember you when you walk in fields of gold\u2019.<\/p>\n

Sting\u2019s \u2018Fields of Gold\u2019, the forward\u2019s favourite song, was played and a designated period of silence was instead observed with applause and chants ringing around Molineux.<\/p>\n

Diogo left an everlasting impression on our club and our city, giving us memories to last a lifetime. <\/p>\n

Today, we came together to honour his life, and that of his brother Andr\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Pepijn Lijnders, who played a key role in bringing Jota to Liverpool from Wolves<\/a> in 2020, was visibly emotional as he stood alongside Pep Guardiola and Kolo Toure as part of Man City<\/a>\u2018s backroom staff.<\/p>\n

So too were Wolves<\/a> and Portugal goalkeeper Jose Sa and Man City<\/a> players Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva, who were all teammates of Jota\u2019s for a number of years.<\/p>\n

Also in attendance on Saturday was Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez, who was among those able to travel to Gondomar for the brothers\u2019 funeral.<\/p>\n

The Wolves<\/a> supporters applauded and chanted throughout the 18th minute of the game in recognition of Jota\u2019s No. 18 shirt.<\/p>\n

Diogo and Andre both featured on the cover of a commemorative matchday programme, while Wolves<\/a> supporters commissioned a mural for the striker on Waterloo Road near Molineux.<\/p>\n

It was a poignant evening as Wolves<\/a> paid tribute to a player who first joined on loan from Atletic Madrid in 2017, when they were still in the Championship.<\/p>\n

Jota went on to score 44 goals in 131 games for the Midlands club, earning his \u00a345 million move to Liverpool and, in his death, a place in Wolves<\/a>\u2018 Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Wolves<\/a> have already announced plans for a permanent tribute at Molineux, with the loss felt just as profoundly in Wolverhampton as it has on Merseyside.<\/p>\n

Liverpool paid tribute before, during and after the 4-2 win over Bournemouth<\/a> on Friday night, with Mohamed Salah<\/a> in tears at full-time as he stood alone in front of the Kop, who sang Jota\u2019s song on repeat.<\/p>\n
