\n\tJack Antonoff<\/a> stopped by The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday morning ahead of the release of the Bleachers\u2019 fifth studio album, Everyone for Ten Minutes. During the wide-ranging interview, the producer and musician discussed his relationship with 14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift<\/a> and their collaborative partnership \u2014 the pair have worked together since before Swift\u2019s 1989 album through The Tortured Poets Department, including her re-recorded version of\u00a0Fearless.<\/p>\n

\n\tSo, when news got around that Antonoff wasn\u2019t featured on her most recent LP,\u00a0The Life of a Showgirl,<\/a>\u00a0rumors swirled online that they had a falling out. When Stern asked Antonoff about his absence on her 12th studio album, the producer said it didn\u2019t bother him at all and that \u201cI only feel grateful for the work that has happened.\u201d He added, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s only because I write my own songs and sing them, but I understand that need to have different collaborators and jump around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEmphasizing his point, Antonoff said, \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s normal to have the same collaborators over and over, and when I\u2019ve had it with people, I think it\u2019s a weird miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAntonoff also discussed his \u201cvery deep\u201d friendship with Swift and their songwriting process they call the \u201crant bridge.\u201d \u201cYou spend a whole song \u2014 verse and chorus \u2014 you know, being super poetic and dancing around something\u2026 and then you get to this bridge, and you just crash the fuck out,\u201d Antonoff said. \u201cAt that point you\u2019ve earned it, so it\u2019s almost like you can be so free. It\u2019s something that I feel like is one of our very special things\u2026 We kind of egg each other on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAntonof\u2019s interview with Stern aired on the same day Swift\u2019s interview with\u00a0The New York Times Magazine<\/a> published on Tuesday. Swift also took the opportunity to address her friendship with Antonoff <\/a>and said, \u201cJack Antonoff is a collaborator of mine and one of my best friends.\u201d She also shared insight on their \u201crant bridge,\u201d calling it a \u201cstream of consciousness, endless pouring-out of emotion, intrusive thoughts, blended with metaphor, with discussion, with shouting.\u201d She pointed to her 2014 song \u201cOut of the Woods,\u201d 2019\u2019s \u201cCruel Summer,\u201d and \u201cIs It Over Now?\u201d from 2023 as examples.<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in the 30-minute interview, the songwriter shared how a car ride with fiancee\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/a> inspired her single \u201cElizabeth Taylor<\/a>,\u201d from The Life of a Showgirl. \u201cI\u2019m riding in the car with Travis. I go on and on and explaining to Travis, like why I love Elizabeth Taylor so much,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI\u2019m like, her eyes were violet. Some people said they were blue. Some people said they were violet. I think they were violet. And we arrive, we get home, he gets out of the car, and I\u2019m just in my head. I\u2019m like, this intrusive melody of like, \u2018I cry my eyes violet, Elizabeth Taylor,\u2019 and I\u2019m just like scrambling to open my record app on my phone.\u201d<\/p>\n
