\n\tIt looks like The Apprentice<\/a> might be making a comeback.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Wall Street Journal <\/a>reports that Amazon<\/a> is discussing a potential reboot of The Apprentice, the reality TV show once hosted by Donald Trump<\/a> before he went into politics and became the president of the United States.<\/p>\n

\n\tTalks are reportedly in the early stages, as the reboot isn\u2019t in active development, and the Trump family hasn\u2019t been approached about the idea yet. People close to the matter also told the WSJ that Amazon executives have suggested internally that Trump\u2019s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., could potentially serve as the host of the reboot.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen The Hollywood Reporter reached Amazon for comment, a spokesperson shared in a statement, \u201cSince our acquisition of MGM, we have had preliminary internal discussions about what\u2019s next for\u00a0The Apprentice\u00a0as a property.\u00a0The show is not in active development, and any reporting on details of the show or names of potential hosts would be purely speculative.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTHR also reached out to the White House for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump hosted the reality show for 14 seasons, from 2004 to 2015. The Apprentice followed contestants as they competed for a job as an apprentice to the businessman.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon co-owns the rights to The Apprentice alongside Trump\u2019s production company, Trump Productions. While the show aired on NBC, it was produced by Trump Productions and Mark Burnett Productions, which MGM bought in 2014. Amazon, of course, has since acquired MGM.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile the show has been out of production for more than a decade, Amazon has been streaming reruns of the program, and the show has, over the years, been sold into syndication and syndicated streaming<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a copy of Trump\u2019s financial disclosures, which were viewed by THR, the show still generates six figures of annual income for him, with royalties of between $100,000 and $1,000,000 in 2024. That figure does not include the value of the show itself, which Trump\u2019s form says is \u201cnot readily ascertainable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon MGM previously teamed up with the Trump family when it acquired the documentary, Melania, <\/a>for $40 million and spent another $35 million on a global marketing campaign for the film. The movie has grossed $16.6 million, after opening to a better-than-expected $7.2 million\u00a0<\/a>in January.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It looks like The Apprentice might be making a comeback.
