Among Hong Kong cinema\u2019s most prolific directors \u2013 with more than 80 credits ranging from cult exploitation (\u201cThe Untold Story\u201d) to the blockbuster \u201cShock Wave\u201d franchise \u2013 Yau revisits the intimate, humanistic register of earlier socially minded work including \u201cTaxi Hunter\u201d and \u201cWhispers and Moans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLoosely drawn from a 1998 Wuhan incident, the Cantonese-language drama follows a retired forensic expert investigating a deliberate Valentine\u2019s Day bus explosion traced to two passengers: Fai and Ike, a gay couple from disadvantaged backgrounds living apart from mainstream society. His inquiry surfaces a history of abuse, homophobia, and despair, and the film uses the tragedy to probe questions of moral accountability and collective indifference in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHeading the cast are Patrick Tam (\u201cBreakout Brothers\u201d), <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/mirror\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mirror\" data-tag=\"mirror\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mirror<\/a> member <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/anson-kong\/\" id=\"auto-tag_anson-kong\" data-tag=\"anson-kong\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anson Kong<\/a> (\u201cBack Home\u201d), and Ansonbean (\u201cThe Lyricist Wannabe\u201d), with Chu Pak-him, Rachel Leung, Wong You-nam, Kearen Pang, and Ben Yuen in supporting roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIf you are living a happy and fulfilling life, I hope this film reminds you that there are still people in the world facing oppression and hardship.
