Groundbreaking.<\/p>\n<p>Meryl Streep called Marvel movies \u201cboring\u201d while discussing the complexity of her character, Miranda Priestly, in \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar winner made the shady comment Friday on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Tmo58ym9Kf4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> Hits Radio Breakfast Show <\/a>when the interviewer asked Streep about Miranda\u2019s \u201csoft side\u201d being highlighted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/entertainment\/most-unexpected-cameos-in-devil-wears-prada-2-including-george-clooneys-villa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new sequel.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like you get a realistic view,\u201d the 76-year-old actress stated. \u201cI think we tend to Marvel-ize the movies now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meryl Streep shaded Marvel movies on Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Streep (pictured above with \u201cDevil Wears Prada 2\u201d co-stars Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt) called Marvel films \u201cboring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got the villains and we got the good guys,\u201d she continued, \u201cand it\u2019s\u00a0so boring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Streep pointed out that real-life is nothing like the good vs. evil battles that play out in Marvel movies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s really interesting about life is that some of the heroes are flawed and some of the villains are human and interesting and have their own strengths,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that\u2019s what I like about this [movie]. It\u2019s messier,\u201d Streep concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Streep said: \u201cWe got the villains and we got the good guys, and it\u2019s\u00a0so boring.\u201d (A scene from \u201cThe Avengers\u201d is above). \u00a9Walt Disney Co.\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>Streep (pictured above in \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d) explained that unlike Marvel, her new film shows that humans are \u201cflawed.\u201d Walt Disney Studios<\/p>\n<p>Streep is not the first Hollywood A-lister to shade Marvel.<\/p>\n<p>Big-time movie directors Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and Quentin Tarantino <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/14\/entertainment\/chris-hemsworth-slams-martin-scorsese-other-marvel-critics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have all gone after the genre<\/a>, with Scorsese saying in 2019 that superhero movies are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.empireonline.com\/movies\/features\/irishman-week-martin-scorsese-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u201cnot cinema.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cTaxi Driver\u201d director also compared MCU films to \u201ctheme parks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Tarantino blamed Marvel for Hollywood\u2019s lack of movie stars, saying in 2022 that the superhero characters overshadow the actors themselves. <\/p>\n<p>Streep isn\u2019t the first star to shade Marvel: Martin Scorsese (seen above at the TCM Classic Film Festival: New York Pop-Up in 2025) previously said the superhero films are \u201cnot cinema.\u201d Getty Images for TCM<\/p>\n<p>Directors Quentin Tarantino and Francis Ford Coppola have all shaded Marvel movies before (Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are seen above in a scene from \u201cThe Avengers\u201d). \u00a9Walt Disney Co.\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>As for Streep, she also took a swipe at Travis Kelce during the \u201cDevil Wears Prada 2\u201d press tour.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4F5k5a4zhZo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a recent featurette\u00a0for the film<\/a>, Streep randomly mentioned the Kansas City Chiefs player when she talked about the most difficult part of filming in Milan, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hardest thing about shooting in Milan was walking in stilettos on the cobblestones,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019d like to see Travis Kelce do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Travis, 36, responded to Streep\u2019s shade on Wednesday\u2019s episode of his \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope she doesn\u2019t have beef with me!\u201d Travis joked while chatting with his brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce, noting that he\u2019s \u201ca fan\u201d of the \u201cBig Little Lies\u201d actress.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Marvel, Travis Kelce (pictured above filming a Tommy Hilfiger campaign in NYC) was a recent victim of Streep\u2019s shade. Okay?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/09\/entertainment\/taylor-swift-and-travis-kelces-wedding-date-and-location-revealed-as-save-the-dates-go-out\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taylor Swift\u2019s soon-to-be husband<\/a> realized stilettos have \u201ca pointy bottom,\u201d Travis let Streep get away with the shady comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll give credit where credit\u2019s due,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think I can do it, Meryl. I\u2019ll let you have that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trave laughed about Streep\u2019s shade on his \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast on Wednesday (Streep is pictured above at the \u201cDevil Wears Prada 2\u201d press conference in Seoul, South Korea). Disney via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Streep is back for \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d as Miranda, the cruel\u00a0editor-in-chief\u00a0of\u00a0Runway\u00a0magazine, a role she originated twenty years ago.<\/p>\n<p>She revealed in a recent interview that she<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/30\/celebrity-news\/why-meryl-streep-initially-refused-devil-wears-prada-role\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> initially refused to star in the 2006 cult classic<\/a>, but she changed her mind when they doubled her salary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was sure it would be a hit. And they needed me, I felt,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Streep\u2019s co-stars Anne Hathaway,\u00a0Stanley Tucci and\u00a0Emily Blunt also reprised their roles for the new sequel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Marvel movies?
