Once the preserve of megacities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, high-profile concerts are now breathing life into lesser-known venues.<\/p>\n<p>As China endeavours to make <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3302645\/chinas-latest-plan-boost-consumption-most-comprehensive-1970s?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">consumption its main growth driver<\/a> and targets untapped markets, entertainment spending \u2013 along with physical goods from international brands such as Sam\u2019s Club \u2013 is rising in areas outside the country\u2019s largest and most developed population centres.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Large-scale performances in smaller cities have become increasingly common, according to a report released at the Music China Expo 2025, as reported by Sichuan Daily.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The report \u2013 by the Music Industry Promotion Committee of the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association \u2013 showed that 45.6 per cent of multi-artist concerts took place in third-tier cities and below in 2025.
