{"id":46625,"date":"2025-09-06T04:30:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-06T04:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/46625\/"},"modified":"2025-09-06T04:30:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T04:30:08","slug":"teeanger-accused-of-carrying-out-knife-attack-that-left-injured-party-requiring-80-stitches-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/46625\/","title":{"rendered":"Teeanger accused of carrying out knife attack that left injured party requiring 80 stitches \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A 16-year old boy from Co Clare has been accused of carrying out a knife attack that left another male with head injuries that required more than 80 stitches. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Garda Br\u00edon Dolan told Ennis Children\u2019s Court on Friday that the accused\u2019s mother drove him to the scene of the alleged assault on June 13th last in west Co Clare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">CCTV footage of the alleged assault showed the 16-year-old getting out of the car armed with a large kitchen knife. The alleged assault took place moments later in broad daylight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">After viewing photos of the injuries, Judge Alec Gabbett said the injured party required \u201cupwards of 80 stitches with a view to putting back his forehead together again and also fixing his ear\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Judge Gabbett said the injured party will be left \u201cwith a significant scar wound for the rest of his life\u201d and that he also sustained two puncture stab wounds to his back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The accused is charged with assault causing harm on a street in a Co Clare town on June 13th last. He is also charged with producing a large kitchen knife during the course of a dispute at the same location on the same date. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda Dolan said there was an argument between two 14-year-olds outside a retailer in the west Clare town, one of whom was a younger brother of the accused.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Garda Dolan said the accused arrived at the scene in his mother\u2019s car looking for his brother and could not find him. The accused exited the car soon afterwards at a junction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Statements provided to garda\u00ed alleged that the accused made a beeline for the alleged injured party. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Garda Dolan played the CCTV evidence showing the alleged assault.
