The Idea Lounge Killarney, founded by 23-year-old Cahersiveen woman Robyn Dowling, aims to provide a place for local businesspeople, creatives and curious minds to collaborate on ideas and inspire each other in a relaxed environment.<\/p>\n
The launch of the lounge featured live music from local singer\/songwriter Lillie Foley and saw people from a variety of backgrounds mix and get to know one another.<\/p>\n
Expert speakers were also on hand to inspire those in attendance.<\/p>\n
Founder, Ms Dowling, opened the night with some information about The Idea Lounge\u2019s mission, why it all started and the upcoming Kingdom Twilight Festival.<\/p>\n
John Fitz of The Lab Method spoke about how he built his business and the ups and downs he has experienced.<\/p>\n
Christine Kearney, of Venga People, spoke about running a business and a team remotely, emigrating to the Cayman Islands and previous attempts at founding a business.<\/p>\n
Alison Dowling, founder of Invitation to Rise, spoke about self-doubt, imposter syndrome and confidence in business, topics which resonated with the audience.<\/p>\n
Ben MacDonald of Outcome Digital shared social media tips and tricks for founders, including how to create a digital brand, and talked about how much social media has changed in recent times.<\/p>\n
The launch night concluded with an \u2018Ideas\u2019 session \u2013 a brainstorming activity which will be an regular event at the Idea Lounge. The session saw guests put business dilemmas, problems or questions they had to the room, with the option to do so anonymously.<\/p>\n
One such dilemma was put to those present and after a quick two minute brainstorm, several solutions were presented to the troubled business owner, who was delighted with the input.<\/p>\n
The Ideas Lounge will return at 6.30pm on Friday, September 19 with Matthew Collins from the Sibly Food Co, who will speak about growing his business and how to best pitch your product.<\/p>\n
