I\u2019d always wanted to do more and indeed had a couple of ideas, more in the territory of James Mangold\u2019s brilliant \u2018Logan.\u2019 I would love to see Chris Hemsworth and the others have their own individual final story that takes \u2018Thor\u2019 into a glorious twilight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Branagh added that despite being asked, he chose not to return as director for the film\u2019s sequels as he \u201cdefinitely was ready for another,\u201d just not at the time. He said, \u201cMarvel shoots are intense. Marvel postproduction is more intense \u2014 wildly exciting but super intense. I definitely needed to smell the roses. Kevin Feige was very understanding, and so was the cast. I needed a break.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThor\u201d was followed by Alan Taylor\u2019s \u201cThor: The Dark World\u201d in 2013 before Taika Waititi took over as director for \u201cThor: Ragnarok\u201d(2017) and \u201cThor: Love and Thunder\u201d (2022).<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBelfast\u201d director said he watched the sequels with \u201ca mix of tremendous pride and amazement at the many ways such stories can go,\u201d adding that it \u201cwould be something very beautiful to take those characters into their own particular sunset,\u201d when asked about returning to the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>However, Branagh concluded, \u201cThey are so far deep into the future of the Marvel Universe that I\u2019m sure whatever plans they have for it are already kind of set.
