The album, released in April, was initially named after the title track, which was originally dubbed \u201cFor Good.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI wanted to call the record For Good, because that song, \u2018Your Favorite Toy,\u2019 at first I called it \u2018For Good,&#8217;\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/dave-grohl\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dave-grohl\" data-tag=\"dave-grohl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Grohl<\/a> told Radio X\u2019s John Kennedy in a new interview. \u201cIn that song, \u2018Your Favorite Toy,\u2019 it says, \u2018Get back, hear that boy\/ Someone threw away your favorite toy for good.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Oh that\u2019s a good title, not only for the song but for the album.\u2019 It could have more than a few meanings.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe title took on a different meaning when blockbuster sequel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/wicked\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wicked\" data-tag=\"wicked\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wicked<\/a>: For Good was released last year. \u201cI was so pissed,\u201d Grohl said. \u201cSo then I changed the title of the song and then it just became the title of the album.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/wicked-for-good\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wicked-for-good\" data-tag=\"wicked-for-good\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wicked: For Good<\/a> arrived in theaters in November. It was the second half of Jon M. Chu\u2019s adaptation of the Broadway musical, following 2024\u2019s Wicked, and starred <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/cynthia-erivo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cynthia-erivo\" data-tag=\"cynthia-erivo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cynthia Erivo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ariana-grande\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ariana-grande\" data-tag=\"ariana-grande\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ariana Grande<\/a>. Chu <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/wicked-jon-m-chu-defends-part-two-title-for-good-1236270318\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">explained to Variety<\/a> why they decided to change the title from Wicked: Part Two to reflect the musical\u2019s penultimate musical number. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWho wants a movie called Wicked: Part Two?\u201d the filmmaker said. \u201cOn the script, it always said, \u2018For Good,\u2019 and so it was just a point of like, \u2018Do we really want to call this \u201cPart Two\u201d?\u2019 And nobody wants that. \u2026 I mean, that\u2019s the destination. \u2018For Good,\u2019 we know, is like, \u2018Where are we going with this movie? Let\u2019s finish this thing.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFoo Fighters released Your Favorite Toy, their 12th studio LP, last month. The group announced the album in February by sharing the title track. \u201c\u2018Your Favorite Toy\u2019 really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,\u201d Grohl said in a statement. \u201cWe stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFoo Fighters will perform at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 8. They\u2019ll also play Bottlerock Napa Valley on May 23 before embarking on a run of European dates. The Foos will\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/foo-fighters-2026-dates-1235452897\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">return to North America<\/a>\u00a0for an Aug. 4 gig at Toronto\u2019s Rogers Stadium with gigs running through late September. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Foo Fighters new album, Your Favorite Toy, almost had a completely different title.
