{"id":468659,"date":"2026-05-04T23:34:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T23:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/468659\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T23:34:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T23:34:11","slug":"paddington-in-peru-writers-team-up-for-animated-critterz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/468659\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Paddington in Peru&#8217; Writers Team Up for Animated &#8216;Critterz&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJames Lamont and Jon Foster, the screenwriting duo whose credits include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/paddington-in-peru-film-3-review-dougal-wilson-1236052827\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paddington in Peru<\/a> and Cartoon Network\u2019s The Amazing World of Gumball, have teamed up for the script to Critterz, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/p\/the-ai-issue-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a new A.I.-assisted animated feature<\/a>, which will be pitching to buyers at the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/cannes-film-market\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cannes-film-market_1\" data-tag=\"cannes-film-market\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cannes Film Market<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNik Kleverov, co-founder of A.I. production studio Native Foreign, is directing as well as producing Critterz together with Chad Nelson, a creative strategist at OpenAI, and Allan Niblo and James Richardson of London-based Vertigo Films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film is pitched as the first mainstream commercial family feature created with A.I. integrated throughout the entire production pipeline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAccording to the official pitch, the film follows \u201can anxious but brave little woodland creature who unites with a group of eccentric outcasts \u2014 each with their own peculiar quirks and hidden strengths \u2014 on a high-stakes quest to find her long-lost brother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn a statement, Kleverov said Critterz aimed to capture \u201cthe wonder of the \u201880s fantasy movies I grew up on \u2014 the scrappy, adventurous spirit of\u202fThe Goonies and the mythic, emotional scope of\u202fThe NeverEnding Story\u2026combined with the scale of early Star Wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAGC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/international\/\" id=\"auto-tag_international_1\" data-tag=\"international\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">International<\/a> has picked up sales rights worldwide and will be screening first-look footage of Critterz to buyers in Cannes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tExecutive producers on the film are Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan, Jane Moore, Stuart Ford and Aghi Koh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Cannes Film Festival has banned films that use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/artificial-intelligence\/\" id=\"auto-tag_artificial-intelligence_1\" data-tag=\"artificial-intelligence\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> as a principal authoring tool from participating in its main competition, although the technology is permitted for use in specific technical processes involved in filmmaking.
