Prince Harry pushed his sister-in-law Kate Middleton to her \u201climits\u201d with his bombshell BBC News interview<\/a> last May, in which he discussed the health of his estranged father, King Charles\u00a0III.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe damage was done: seeds of doubt concerning the King\u2019s chances for a full recovery had been sown,\u201d royal expert Christopher Andersen writes in\u00a0an excerpt from\u00a0his upcoming novel, \u201cKate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen<\/a>,\u201d obtained by Us Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the shock interview Harry said he didn\u2019t know \u201chow much longer my father has,\u201d which made Middleton \u201cmore disappointed than angry,\u201d per the excerpt.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrincess Catherine is \u2018the sweetest, most loving person you could ever know,\u2019 said a Sandringham staffer, \u2018but like everyone else, she has her limits,\u2019\u201d another of Andersen\u2019s excerpt reads.<\/p>\n

At the time, Harry, 41, was referring to his father\u2019s cancer diagnosis<\/a> in February 2024. In the years since, Charles has undergone cancer treatment and given positive updates on his health<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Andersen also told Us Weekly Harry\u2019s interview really struck a nerve with Middleton, who went through her own cancer battle<\/a> and really bonded with Charles, 77, because of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Kate\u2019s relationship with her father-in-law over their\u00a0shared cancer battles\u00a0really has made her much more sensitive to King Charles\u2019s feelings,\u201d Andersen explained. \u201cShe knows better than anyone that having someone publicly imply you may be at death\u2019s door is horribly demoralizing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure Kate must have felt stung by that comment as well, since she is in a situation very similar to the king\u2019s,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Anderson noted that Middleton, 44, has always been the \u201clevel-headed one\u201d in the family feud and attempted to \u201cbridge the widening gap between the brothers,\u201d but Harry\u2019s comments about Charles changed her stance. Afterward, she fully sided with her husband, Prince William, who was allegedly furious over his brother\u2019s interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut William, who had already slammed the door shut on his brother over what Harry wrote in \u2018Spare,\u2019 was, in the words of a courtier, \u2018apoplectic\u2019 with rage,\u201d he writes in an excerpt. \u201cNow it was time to nail the door shut once and for all, and for the first time Kate, who had worked harder than anyone to mend the rift between the brothers, willingly handed her husband a hammer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andersen told the outlet he doesn\u2019t see Harry and Middleton \u201chaving any sort of relationship\u201d going forward. \u201cAt least not for the foreseeable future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Page Six has reached out to reps for Harry and Middleton for comment. <\/p>\n

Harry has been on the outs with his father and older brother since he and his wife, Meghan Markle,\u00a0resigned from their royal duties\u00a0<\/a>in January 2020.<\/p>\n

The couple\u00a0ultimately moved to Montecito, California<\/a>, where they live with their two children:\u00a0Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Harry went on to drag his royal family members in several interviews as well as in his 2023 memoir, \u201cSpare.\u201d<\/a> However, the Invictus Games founder has since shared his desire to reconcile<\/a>\u00a0with the reigning monarch.<\/p>\n
