{"id":468779,"date":"2026-05-05T01:24:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T01:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/468779\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T01:24:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T01:24:14","slug":"intel-appoints-qualcomm-executive-to-lead-pc-and-physical-ai-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/468779\/","title":{"rendered":"Intel appoints Qualcomm executive to lead PC and physical AI business"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">May 4 (Reuters) &#8211; Intel said on Monday it had appointed Alex Katouzian to lead the company&#8217;s \u200cPC and physical <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;artificial intelligence&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The new role \u200cfor Katouzian includes the company&#8217;s crucial PC business, which has \u200bbeen one of the mainstays of Intel&#8217;s revenue and profit for decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Katouzian has worked at Qualcomm for more than 20 years and has worked extensively in the \u200ccompany&#8217;s mobile chip \u2060unit, which makes processors for smartphones and other gadgets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Qualcomm is attempting to challenge \u2060Intel and Advanced Micro Devices&#8217; control over the PC market with a chip based on Arm Holdings technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Intel \u200bsaid Katouzian \u200bwould begin his new \u200brole in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Intel&#8217;s physical \u200cAI division includes systems that power robotics, autonomous machines and other AI devices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;Alex brings deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and decades of experience building and scaling global compute platforms,&#8221; Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan \u200csaid in a statement. &#8220;He is \u200bthe right leader to help \u200bus reimagine client \u200bcomputing beyond the traditional PC and align \u200cthis future with the next \u200bwave of \u200bgrowth in physical AI.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Intel also named interim Chief Technology Officer Pushkar Ranade to the role permanently. \u200bRanade will continue \u200cto serve as Lip-Bu Tan&#8217;s chief of \u200bstaff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">(Reporting by Max A.
