{"id":470397,"date":"2026-05-06T00:52:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/470397\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T00:52:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:52:20","slug":"freya-skye-on-silent-treatment-disney-stars-align-tour-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/470397\/","title":{"rendered":"Freya Skye On &#8216;Silent Treatment&#8217;, Disney, Stars Align Tour and More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/freya-skye\/\">Freya Skye<\/a> began writing her eventual breakthrough solo single \u201cSilent Treatment\u201d last spring, she was an aspiring pop star from Buckinghamshire, England, best known for representing the United Kingdom in the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSkye recalls crafting a \u201crough outline\u201d of the track alongside cowriters Sophie Simmons and Max Margolis back in May 2025: \u201cWe didn\u2019t feel like we\u2019d nailed it,\u201d she says. \u201cWe were like, \u2018Let\u2019s just park it and wait for inspiration to strike again.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tShe kept busy until then, making her film debut with her role as Nova Bright in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/disney\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney\" data-tag=\"disney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney<\/a> Channel\u2019s Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires that July \u2014 which introduced her to an entirely new audience. And at last, in September, inspiration did strike again. \u201cOne morning, the concept came to me,\u201d she recalls of cracking the infectious pop single infused with guitar and drums. \u201cWe rewrote the whole song, took everything we had before and pieced it all together. It felt almost like a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn many ways, Skye was already living out her dreams of pop stardom. After the premiere of Zombies 4 last summer, Skye became one of seven Disney stars on the 43-date Descendants\/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour that hit arenas across North America, including Madison Square Garden in New York \u2014 but she still longed to perform her solo music to her own fans. \u201cI\u2019m so close with my fans, and I know what we both like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHer confidence translated into a sense of urgency, with the 16-year-old insisting to the Disney-owned Hollywood Records \u2014 which signed her to a record deal in 2024 at the time of her Zombies 4 casting \u2014 that \u201cSilent Treatment\u201d be released \u201cas soon as possible.\u201d The single came out in early December, just in time to test-drive it during her stint as a presenter and special guest performer across several dates of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, which put her right back in arenas across the U.S.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI felt a lot of impostor syndrome [being] surrounded by these established artists that I\u2019m inspired by,\u201d Skye says of the lineup, which included Ed Sheeran, Zara Larsson and Olivia Dean. But that trepidation melted away once she hit the stage: \u201cI started singing the first chorus, and people knew the words. I was so taken aback. I was like, \u2018The song\u2019s been out for three days!\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-billboard-2021\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/chartbreaker-freya-skye-pr-cr-ashley-osborne-billboard-2026-bb5-2-1200.jpg\" alt=\"Freya Skye Billboard Chartbreaker May 2026\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"1024\" width=\"683\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAshley Osborn<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt\u2019s continued to win over new listeners in the months since, reaching a No. 14 high on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/pop-songs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Pop Airplay<\/a> chart and marking Skye\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/hot-100\/\">Billboard Hot 100<\/a> debut in April. \u201cI woke up and there was a text from my team saying, \u2018Freya, you\u2019ve made it onto the Billboard Hot 100,\u2019 \u201d she marvels, at one point putting her head in her hands and wiping away tears in disbelief. \u201cLook at the names that I\u2019m surrounded by: They\u2019re the people who I used to sing songs in the car with my family with. They\u2019re the people who I have grown up with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThat includes Taylor Swift. As a self-proclaimed \u201cproud Swiftie\u201d (she calls going to Swift\u2019s The Eras Tour at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium in 2024 \u201cthe best night of my life\u201d), Skye understands that \u201cbridges are such a huge thing in pop songs\u201d \u2014 and \u201cSilent Treatment\u201d delivers in droves, starting with the shout-along and wise-beyond-her-years lyric \u201cYou\u2019re a narcissist, I\u2019m an optimist, name a deadlier combo.\u201d \u201cGetting the silent treatment is such a universal experience,\u201d Skye says. \u201c[But] there\u2019s a fun energy to it that\u2019s just infectious. Sometimes I\u2019m listening to it and I want to cry; sometimes I\u2019m dancing; and sometimes I\u2019m just grooving while doing my homework.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSkye\u2019s manager, State of the Art\u2019s Nick Bobetsky \u2014 who previously shepherded Chappell Roan\u2019s rise and connected with Skye in 2024 through Hollywood Records \u2014 credits that Swift-coded fan bond with the teen artist\u2019s growing success. \u201cThere aren\u2019t a lot of fair-weather Freya fans,\u201d he tells Billboard. \u201cIf you\u2019re a Freya fan, you are searching, sharing, consuming, you\u2019re spreading the word. Her fans are really loud for her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBobetsky notes that while they\u2019re making the most of her ever-growing Zombies fanbase, he\u2019s not necessarily looking to follow in the exact footsteps of other high-profile Disney-to-pop success stories like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. \u201cThe road map that is really valuable is knowing [the Disney] system, it\u2019s such a massive accelerator when it comes to exposing young artists to young fans,\u201d he says. \u201cThe piece that I think we\u2019re really prioritizing is to not just rely on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhat already separates Skye is that she\u2019s having her top 40 breakthrough at the same time that she\u2019s still firmly part of the Disney ecosystem, chatting with Billboard while filming Zombies 5 in New Zealand, set for release in 2027. \u201cThe stereotype that has been created, and I felt like one that I was going to have to follow, was like, \u2018OK, I\u2019ll do Disney. Then one day, unfortunately, that journey will come to an end, and then my music career will begin.\u2019 The fact that they\u2019ve been able to coincide is something that, honestly, I was surprised by and [feel] really lucky for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAfter filming wraps, Skye will continue on the road for her Stars Align Tour \u2014 in support of her February Stardust EP \u2014 for 40 additional dates beginning in June that will take her to Australia, the U.S. and the U.K. She\u2019s been outspoken about keeping tour tickets in her fans\u2019 hands after seeing scalpers resell $30 tickets to her sold-out solo acoustic shows late last year for \u201cthousands of pounds.\u201d She\u2019s using tools like Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange and offering separate VIP upgrades to ticketholders to keep bots from targeting premium seats. \u201cKeeping tickets as affordable as possible is so important, especially with my fanbase where we\u2019re all teenagers and young girls. You never want to close people out because of how expensive your ticket prices are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tConsidering her poignant songwriting and professional poise, it\u2019s easy to forget how young Skye still is. She and Bobetsky both credit her parents, along with her friends and the rest of their team, for keeping her grounded as her career takes off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEven though her songs are spreading far and wide at the moment, Skye knows there are still plenty of pop fans left to win over. \u201cIt\u2019s one of my favorite things when I see someone saying, \u2018Who is she?\u2019 It excites me.
