Discovery, media mogul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/barry-diller\/\" id=\"auto-tag_barry-diller_1\" data-tag=\"barry-diller\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barry Diller<\/a> says that if given the opportunity he would snatch up the iconic news brand instantly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cAbsolutely, I would do it tonight and tomorrow night,\u201d Diller told Wall Street Journal reporter Cara Lombardo at the WSJ\u2019s Future of Everything summit in New York Tuesday. \u201cBefore they ruin it any further. Hopefully before it\u2019s extinct, which, I mean, it\u2019s not gonna be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDiller had previously reached out to WBD about acquiring the TV news outlet, which was founded by Ted Turner, and saved by John Malone, a mentor of Diller\u2019s. The mogul said Tuesday that CNN is \u201cso ripe\u201d for innovation \u201cthat I don\u2019t think it\u2019s seen in almost 10 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tInstead, CNN appears destined to be cut in the \u201csavage process\u201d that Paramount will need to undertake to reduce costs when its deal is done.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cSo how they do that and navigate also running the surviving businesses \u2026 I don\u2019t know,\u201d Diller said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDiller, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/barry-diller-shakeup-iac-to-people-inc-neil-vogel-new-ceo-1236578906\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">last week announced<\/a> that he would step aside as CEO of IAC and rebrand that holding company as People Incorporated, also said at the conference that he looked \u201cvery deeply\u201d at a deal for Vox Media, which appears headed to James Murdoch\u2019s Lupa Systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDiller, of course, has always been outspoken about the state of media and entertainment, and coming from a titan of the industry, his words carry weight. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/barry-diller-interview-hollywood-legacy-memoir-who-knew-1236222652\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> last year tied to his memoir, he framed the future of Hollywood as a battle that they have already lost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t think Hollywood studios will go out of existence. But I think they\u2019ll be much smaller operations than they have been in the past,\u201d he said. \u201cTheir days of dominating media have passed, and Hollywood will never recover from that.
