Piranha<\/a> <\/strong>fans who have been waiting for a new sequel to the iconic horror comedy franchise will at last get what they want, as it has been confirmed that a new Piranha movie is coming soon and will be different from previous installments.<\/p>\n What do we know about the new Piranha movie?<\/p>\n According to Bloody Disgusting, for the first time in the franchise\u2019s history, the upcoming new sequel, titled Piranha: Pacific Nightmare<\/strong>, will be produced as a Japanese horror movie. It will reportedly center around \u201ca scientist creating a new breed of Piranha\/Tuna hybrid that could live in saltwater as a new food source, but the DNA mutates into a deadly new species.\u201d<\/p>\n Piranha: Pacific Nightmare will be directed by Stens Christensen (Raging Angels). It serves as the franchise\u2019s sixth installment after 2012\u2019s Piranha 3DD. Nearly 16 years after playing Mr. Carl Goodman in Alexandre Aja\u2019s Piranha 3D, the outlet confirmed that Back to the Future vet Christopher Lloyd<\/a> is attached to reprise his role as an eccentric pet shop owner from the 2010 film. It is a production by IX Film Group Inc. and Red Beans Pictures.<\/p>\n The original movie\u2019s producer, Roger Corman<\/a>, was actually attached to the project before he died in 2024 at the age of 98. Despite his death, Corman is still set to be credited as an executive producer on the new film.
