The aurora has a much higher chance of appearing above most of Alaska. <\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s The Best Way To View The Aurora?<\/p>\n<p>Experts at NOAA recommend prospective viewers travel north and find an ideal vantage point\u2014one with a clear, unobstructed view of the northern sky and away from city lights. Viewers should also time their trip to the hours the aurora is typically most active\u2014from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s The Best Way To Photograph The Aurora?<\/p>\n<p>Smartphone cameras are capable of taking quality photos of the northern lights, experts who spoke to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/travel\/article\/how-to-photograph-the-northern-lights-according-to-an-expert\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/travel\/article\/how-to-photograph-the-northern-lights-according-to-an-expert\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/travel\/article\/how-to-photograph-the-northern-lights-according-to-an-expert\" aria-label=\"National Geographic\">National Geographic<\/a> said. Photographers should remember to turn off flash and shoot in their device\u2019s night mode, ideally using RAW image format.
