La Roux<\/a> has announced a new album, \u2018Old Flames\u2019, and dropped the R&B-tinged single \u2018Cabin Fever\u2019. Check it out below.<\/p>\n

The new record will be the singer\u2019s first since she dropped \u2018Supervision\u2019 in 2020, and is set for release on November 6.<\/p>\n

Across \u2018Old Flames\u2019, La Roux faces the collapse of a 17-year relationship head on, and also tackles themes of forbidden love, loneliness that comes with addiction, and the struggle to reconcile sexuality and identity when in the public eye.<\/p>\n

Today (Friday May 8) she shares the first taster of the record with the \u201890s influenced \u2018Cabin Fever\u2019.<\/p>\n

The track tackles the mental minefield of self-imposed hibernation, and the conflict between the part of you that wants to get out, and the racing thoughts that lure you to stay inside. According to La Roux, it was written at a time when she was feeling \u201cstuck in my head and lost, having to be brutally honest about it in order to escape\u201d.<\/p>\n

As for the rest of the album, the lyrics see the British synth-pop star reference everything from David Lynch<\/a> to Donnie Darko, and All Saints<\/a> to Mariah Carey<\/a>, all while capturing a sound that is both immersive and nostalgic, while also forward facing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis record says things how they are: how I am and who I am. It\u2019s been a process of admitting what I got wrong through telling these tales and coming to terms with where I am now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019Old Flames\u2019 is essentially me processing why I\u2019ve behaved the way that I have and saying goodbye to it. It\u2019s a farewell to that way of behaving in love and life. And in music too.\u201d<\/p>\n

La Roux burst onto the music scene with her 2009 self-titled debut album, and went on to work with artists to remix her hits. These included DnB frontrunner Zinc who reworked \u2018Bulletproof\u2019, and dubstep pioneer Skream and Grammy winner Skrillex<\/a> both remixing \u2018In For The Kill\u2019.<\/p>\n

In 2019, she featured on Tyler, The Creator\u2019s<\/a> boundary-breaking album \u2018IGOR<\/a>\u2019, and the rapper later remixed her \u2018Automatic Driver\u2019 track from \u2018Supervision\u2019.<\/a> More recently, she shared a new rework of her 2009 hit single \u2018Bulletproof\u2019 with help from Chromeo.<\/a><\/p>\n
