Deadline now reports that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/jane-fonda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/jane-fonda\/\">Jane Fonda<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ciaran-hinds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ciaran-hinds\/\">Ciar\u00e1n Hinds<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/john-c-reilly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/john-c-reilly\/\">John C Reilly<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/chris-o-dowd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/chris-o-dowd\/\">Chris O\u2019Dowd<\/a> will star in a film, titled Ceasefire, to shoot later this year in Ireland. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Bankside Films, a prominent UK distributor, will be handling sales at the Cannes film market, a vast cinema bazaar in the bowels of the Palais des Festivals et des Congr\u00e8s. Fine Point Films, based in Belfast, and Wildcard, a busy Dublin company, are named as producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ceasefire focuses on the activities of the veteran Irish-American journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/niall-o-dowd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/niall-o-dowd\/\">Niall O\u2019Dowd<\/a>. The producers note that, in their film, O\u2019Dowd \u201cgambles everything to broker a secret back channel between the IRA &#8230; and a wary Clinton administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Born in Tipperary, O\u2019Dowd, after moving to the United States, founded the Irish Voice newspaper and Irish America magazine. In 2009 he founded Irish Central, an online companion to those publications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The cast of Ceasefire could hardly be more impressive. Chris O\u2019Dowd, the versatile comic actor from Co Roscommon, stars as his namesake Niall. Fonda, an octogenarian legend, will play <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/jean-kennedy-smith\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/jean-kennedy-smith\/\">Jean Kennedy Smith<\/a>, US ambassador to Ireland, sister of John F Kennedy and key representative of President Bill Clinton. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Fonda \u2013 daughter of Henry Fonda, brother of Peter Fonda, aunt of Bridget Fonda \u2013 will surely understand what it means to be part of an American dynasty. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Reilly is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/bruce-morrison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/bruce-morrison\/\">Bruce Morrison<\/a>, the committed Irish-American congressman famous for the \u201cMorrison visa\u201d that proved helpful to Irish citizens wishing to emigrate to the US. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Hinds is to play the late businessman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/bill-flynn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/bill-flynn\/\">Bill Flynn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe are very excited about this production with world-class talent, bringing an incredible real life story to screen,\u201d Patrick O\u2019Neill, managing director of Wildcard, tells The Irish Times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Terry George, from Belfast, broke through as screenwriter and assistant director on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/jim-sheridan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/jim-sheridan\/\">Jim Sheridan<\/a>\u2019s In The Name of the Father, from 1993. He later directed Helen Mirren in Some Mother\u2019s Son, a story of the 1981 hunger strikes. In 2003 he secured an Oscar nomination for the harrowing African drama Hotel Rwanda. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cCeasefire is about the fragile, dangerous, often invisible work required to end conflict,\u201d George told Deadline. \u201cIt\u2019s about the belief that dialogue can triumph over violence. It\u2019s a message and a story that is dramatic, moving and vital. I am honoured to tell it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cannes-film-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cannes-film-festival\/\">Cannes film festival<\/a> kicks off in the south of France on Tuesday, May 12th.
