The bodies of the woman and her new-born baby daughter were found in their rural Co Tipperary home on Friday<\/p>\n

Gardai were last night probing the shock death of a young mum and her new-born daughter<\/a> in their own home.<\/p>\n

The bodies of the woman and her new-born baby daughter were found in their rural Co Tipperary<\/a> home on Friday – but sources say investigators do not believe there was any foul play.<\/p>\n

Instead, it is understood officers are focusing on the theory that the mum, who was from eastern Europe and in her 30s, died at the family home in an estate in Carrick-on-Suir as she was giving birth to her daughter.<\/p>\n

“It is a shocking tragedy, but there is nothing to suggest any foul play,” a source told us last night.<\/p>\n

It is understood the woman\u2019s partner made the grim discovery in a bathroom in their home in the Greenhill Village area of the town at around 1pm on Friday.<\/p>\n

The house has been sealed off and a full investigation is now under way.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood the family is from eastern Europe and has only been living in Carrick-on-Suir for a short time.<\/p>\n

Gardai<\/a> were last night liaising with other family members and trying to contact relatives back in Europe.<\/p>\n

A Garda spokeswoman told the Irish Mirror<\/a> an investigation was under way.<\/p>\n

She said: “Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene of an incident at a domestic residence in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary this Friday afternoon 8th May 2026.<\/p>\n

“A woman in her 30s and an infant were pronounced deceased at the scene. The scene remains preserved for examination.<\/p>\n

“A post-mortem examination will take place, which will determine the course of the investigation.”<\/p>\n

Locals in the tight-knit community were left in a state of shock at the deaths.<\/p>\n
