I have had enough of malicious associations. With my entire life I have paid my rightful dues to these songs and these images. I would now like to live disassociated from those who wish me nothing but ill-will and destruction, and this is the only resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The musician then encouraged interested parties can reach out for more information via eaves7760@gmail.com.<\/p>\n<p>Now, he\u2019s shared that the email address has been \u201cswitched off\u201d due to a \u201ccolossal response\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In a new statement on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morrisseycentral.com\/messagesfrommorrissey\/notice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">his website<\/a> yesterday (September 5), a rep for Morrissey wrote: \u201cAlthough Morrisseys\u2019 love for the songs of the Smiths era will never waver, he is tired of the disagreeable and vexatious characters involved in \u2018The Smiths\u2019 business. After thirty-eight years of insults and abuse, Morrissey has had enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll (or most) of the \u2018eaves\u2019 emails will be answered in time,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOJlH-EEYd_\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Interested parties and investors were offered the opportunity to purchase Morrissey\u2019s \u201cfull and exclusive rights\u201d to The Smiths name, all Smiths artwork, all Smith merchandising rights, Smiths songs both lyrically and musically, all synchronisation rights, all Smiths recordings and all contractual rights for the Smiths publishing.<\/p>\n<p>In August last year, Morrissey\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/morrissey-on-why-the-smiths-do-not-end-it-was-always-about-a-refusal-to-surrender-to-enemy-propaganda-3783984\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">appeared somewhat sentimental as he reflected on the legacy of the band<\/a>: \u201cI am incredibly grateful to anyone who walked out to buy, or who stayed in to download, Smiths\u2019 music. The musicians are considered to be those who make the change, but the consumer plays an equal part by having faith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all in this together. It was always about a refusal to surrender to enemy propaganda \u2013 something I still face today just as much as I faced it in 1983, 84, 85, 86 and 87. The Smiths do not end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later that same month, Morrissey\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/morrissey-hits-out-at-johnny-marr-for-turning-down-lucrative-the-smiths-reunion-which-he-agreed-to-3788683\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said he had agreed to a \u201clucrative\u201d 2025 Smiths tour \u2013 but alleged that Marr \u201cignored\u201d the offer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was also around this time that the singer alleging that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/morrissey-says-the-smiths-greatest-hits-album-blocked-by-johnny-marr-3792940\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a Smiths \u2018Greatest Hits\u2019 album had been \u201cblocked\u201d by\u00a0<\/a>the guitarist, and claimed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/morrissey-claims-johnny-marr-now-owns-100-per-cent-trademark-rights-and-intellectual-property-of-the-smiths-name-and-can-tour-as-band-without-him-3794202\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marr now oweds all of the \u201ctrademark rights and Intellectual Property\u201d of The Smiths, and can tour as a band without him<\/a>: \u201cThis action was done without any consultation to Morrissey, and without allowing Morrissey the standard opportunity of \u2018objection\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/johnny-marr-responds-to-morrisseys-claims-he-ignored-a-reunion-tour-offer-i-didnt-ignore-the-offer-i-said-no-3794610\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a representative from the guitarist\u2019s management team called Morrissey\u2019s comments on various topics \u201cincorrect\u201d<\/a> in a statement on X\/Twitter. As for the reunion offer, Marr responded: \u201cI didn\u2019t ignore the offer \u2013 I said no.\u201d Shortly after Marr\u2019s refusal, Morrissey\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/morrissey-fires-management-team-after-johnny-marr-refutes-claims-of-ignoring-the-smiths-reunion-offer-3795376\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">issued a statement on his website that he had \u201csevered all connections\u201d with his management team<\/a>, though he did not provide any further details.<\/p>\n<p>October 2024 saw The Smiths\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/mike-joyce-interview-the-smiths-reunion-johnny-marr-morrisey-feud-andy-rourke-mural-3799050\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drummer Mike Joyce speak to\u00a0NME about settling his beef with Marr, and addressed the chances of a Smiths reunion following the death of bassist Andy Rourke<\/a>: \u201cOther people will have other ideas but, as far as I\u2019m concerned, with Andy not being here, it\u2019s impossible to have a reunion of The Smiths.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back in December,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/morrissey-on-why-he-wanted-the-smiths-reunion-tour-it-wasnt-because-i-had-any-emotional-attachment-to-johnny-marr-i-have-absolutely-none-3821217\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Morrissey opened up on why he wanted the Smiths\u2019 reunion tour to happen<\/a>: \u201cI agreed because it felt like the last time such a thing would be possible. We\u2019ve all begun to grow old. I thought the tour that was offered would be a good way of saying thank you for those who have listened for what suddenly feels like a lifetime. It wasn\u2019t because I had any emotional attachment to Marr. I have absolutely none.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Mike Joyce\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-smiths-mike-joyce-announces-no-holds-barred-autobiography-the-drums-3887107\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced a new \u201cno-holds-barred\u201d autobiography<\/a>, in which he chronicles the drama within The Smiths from his point of view. It\u2019s due for release in the UK on November 6 and is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hmv.com\/store\/pop-culture\/booksandgraphicnovels\/the-drums-hardback-by-mike-joyce?clickref=1110lnRXNYi&amp;utm_source=Visualsoft&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_campaign=skimlinks_phg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">available for pre-order now<\/a>, with HMV offering a limited hardback edition \u2013 limited to one copy per customer \u2013 signed by Mike Joyce himself.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Morrissey is no longer taking applications to buy his stake in The Smiths.
