{"id":477630,"date":"2026-05-10T11:14:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T11:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/477630\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T11:14:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T11:14:13","slug":"apple-reaches-250-million-settlement-with-iphone-owners-over-ai-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/477630\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple reaches $250 million settlement with iPhone owners over AI claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple reached a $250 million settlement on Tuesday with consumers after a dispute over its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/business-and-innovation\/all-news\/article-894745\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI<\/a> capabilities, with some iPhone owners eligible for up to $95 in compensation.<\/p>\n<p>In the settlement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/consumerism\/article-894671\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple<\/a> denied wrongdoing but agreed to compensate customers who purchased iPhone 16 \u00a0and some iPhone 15 phones between June 2024 and March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, customers filed several class-action lawsuits against the tech giant, alleging the company misled them about the capabilities of its AI platform. These lawsuits were consolidated into a single case by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-894089\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">California<\/a> federal court last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The dispute between the parties dates back to 2024, when Apple announced its personal intelligence system, Apple Intelligence. At the time, Apple released advertisements showcasing the system\u2019s supposed abilities, including an improved version of its voice assistant Siri.<\/p>\n<p>However, Apple Intelligence features weren\u2019t available on new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/consumerism\/article-894311\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone<\/a> models shipped in September 2024 and were instead rolled out gradually afterward.
