PHOTO: REUTERS   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The world has lost about 1 billion barrels of oil over the past two months and energy markets will take time to stabilise even if flows resume, Saudi Aramco\u2019s CEO said on Sunday, as shipping disruptions choke traffic through the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2606831\/no-ships-pass-through-strait-of-hormuz-in-last-24-hours-amid-rising-security-risks\" target=\"_blank\">Strait of Hormuz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Our objective is simple: keep energy flowing, even when the system is under strain,&#8221; Amin Nasser told Reuters in a statement after Aramco reported a 25% jump in net profit in its first-quarter.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2596302\/iran-war-threatens-a-prolonged-hit-to-global-energy-markets\" target=\"_blank\">Global energy supplies<\/a> have been sharply squeezed by Iran\u2019s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has curtailed shipping and driven prices higher following the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2607301\/irgc-warns-us-of-retaliation-over-further-attacks-on-iranian-vessels\" target=\"_blank\">United States-Israeli war<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Read:\u00a0<\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2606797\/oil-prices-rise-as-investors-weigh-middle-east-peace-prospects\" target=\"_blank\">Oil prices rise as investors weigh Middle East peace prospects<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Reopening routes is not the same as normalising a market that has been deprived of about one billion barrels of oil,&#8221; Nasser said, adding that years of underinvestment have compounded the strain on already-low global inventories.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Aramco has used its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2602353\/saudi-arabia-restores-full-capacity-on-east-west-oil-pipeline-to-7m-bpd-after-attacks\" target=\"_blank\">East-West Pipeline<\/a> to bypass Hormuz and transport crude to the Red Sea, an asset Nasser described as a &#8220;critical lifeline&#8221; to mitigate the global supply crisis.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Despite shifts in shipping routes, Nasser reiterated that Asia remained a key priority for the company and was central to global demand.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Read More:\u00a0<\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2607258\/hormuz-the-chokehold-that-shook-the-world\" target=\"_blank\">Hormuz: the chokehold that shook the world<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In March, Aramco warned of &#8220;<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2596818\/aramco-sees-catastrophic-consequences-for-oil-markets-if-hormuz-strait-remains-blocked\" target=\"_blank\">catastrophic consequences<\/a>&#8221; for the world&#8217;s oil markets if the Iran war continues to disrupt \u200cshipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
