It\u2019s beautiful to relive the memories attached to this project that\u2019s so, so precious to me,\u201d Jackson said in her acceptance speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see \u2018Rhythm Nation\u2019 as a phenomenon that lives in the past; I believe it\u2019s alive and well in 2026. \u2018Rhythm Nation\u2019 still resonates on a deep and profound level. It\u2019s an ongoing force that fights bigotry and promotes understanding. It cannot be stopped \u2014 it\u2019s simply too strong and too positive. \u2018Rhythm Nation\u2019 is a movement of people of all ages and backgrounds seeking to give and receive love, free of judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we celebrate tonight, let\u2019s remember that it transcends all borders, nationalities, and faiths. When you hear the music of \u2018Rhythm Nation\u2019, I hope you hear my heart\u2018s desire when we first created this suite of songs. More than ever, my hope is that we might live in a world free of fear and despair,\u201d Jackson continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe prayer driving this Rhythm Nation remains the same, exactly the same, that peace prevail. Peace the world over, peace among nations, peace in our neighbourhoods, peace in our homes. May the music of Rhythm Nation continue to bring us together in peace, and may that peace allow us to celebrate this precious gift of life that God has given us. All praise be to God. Many fans have been quick to note that this year will mark her 60th birthday, and could see her celebrate five decades in the music industry with new material or a new tour.<\/p>\n<p>Some have also speculated that it could mean the arrival of a long-awaited album from Jackson, which, if it comes to be, would mark her first in over a decade following 2015\u2019s \u2018Unbreakable.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In other news, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/film\/janet-jackson-declined-to-be-portrayed-in-new-film-michael-says-sister-la-toya-3941969\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently declined to be portrayed in the new biopic of her brother<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/michael-jackson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael<\/a>, according to La Toya Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>The film, titled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/films\/michael\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael<\/a>, was released in UK cinemas this week (April 22) and charts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/michael-jackson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Jackson\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0life from his early days with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-jackson-five\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jackson Five<\/a>, up to the peak of his success following the release of the album \u2018Bad\u2019.
