\n\tSupriya Ganesh<\/a> opened up about their exit from HBO<\/a>\u2019s hit drama series \u201cThe Pitt<\/a>\u201d during a conversation with Variety at the Gold Gala red carpet on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI tried to take a step away, because it\u2019s just been so surreal,\u201d Ganesh said of the reaction to their exit. \u201cThe day that news broke, I saw my name was trending on Twitter, and I was like, \u2018Gotta put the phone down and go outside.\u2019 So, I haven\u2019t really been keeping track of it, to be honest, but I\u2019ve been getting such sweet, lovely messages from people, and I\u2019ve honestly just been surprised at how much people love the character and saw so much of themselves in her, and that\u2019s what I\u2019m going to miss.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVariety exclusively reported<\/a> in early April that Ganesh stepped away from their role as senior resident Dr. Samira Mohan after \u201cThe Pitt\u201d Season 2. The move came with the promotion of Ayesha Harris, who plays senior night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, to series regular as the show prepares for its third season.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for future acting work, while Ganesh can\u2019t confirm any of their upcoming projects just yet, she promised fans there are a \u201ccouple of things in the pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGanesh\u2019s on-screen work as Dr. Samira Mohan isn\u2019t the only thing that fans are connecting to. She revealed that her Vulture essay about gender and queer identity<\/a> has prompted people to reach out, resulting in a \u201cvalidating\u201d experience for her.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a scary thing to put out there, because it\u2019s such a complex experience and something that\u2019s so personal that I remember when I was writing it, I like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if anyone\u2019s going to get this. But that\u2019s okay, because even if one person gets it like, I\u2019m writing for that person,\u2019\u201d said Ganesh. \u201cI get DMs from people being like, \u2018I\u2019m taking your essay to my queer theory class and discussing it in class tomorrow.\u2019 That\u2019s just so surreal to me, because I remember being in women\u2019s and gender studies classes, and discussing and debating ideas. It\u2019s just great that it\u2019s part of the conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAll episodes of \u201cThe Pitt\u201d Season 2 are available to stream on HBO Max.
