\n\tAmazon<\/a> made its pitch to advertisers at their annual upfront presentation in New York on Wednesday, with the TV arm of the e-commerce giant packing in the star power once again. <\/p>\n

\n\tLike the great Steve Aoki last year<\/a>, Diplo got the crowd warmed up with a rousing DJ set that actually got advertisers on their feet. Certainly no small feat. <\/p>\n

\n\tDiplo was followed by a performance from Kacey Musgraves, who played her new song \u201cDry Spell\u201d before launching into her hit song \u201cButterflies.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tBut this is the upfronts<\/a> after all, so all that music was followed by a pitch from Tanner Elton, Amazon\u2019s vice president of ad sales. A tough act to follow, but it turns out the next presenter \u2014 Oprah Winfrey \u2014 was up for the challenge. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI came to television\u2026and then somewhere around 1989 I realized that I could use television and not just be used by it because I believed that showing up honestly as myself, my authentic self, could make someone at home feel like they mattered,\u201d Winfrey said.<\/p>\n

\n\tPaige DeSorbo appeared in a number of video bits about customizing ad delivery, and Tierra Whack then spoke about the power of Twitch streaming. Whack was joined onstage by none other than Ice Spice, who talked about her experience on Twitch during Paris Fashion Week. \u201cFans aren\u2019t just watching. They\u2019re part of it,\u201d she said. \u201cThat kind of reaction, you can only get that on Twitch.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn keeping with the music theme, Shaboozey then hit the stage to sing about Amazon Sports to the assembled advertisers. \u201cThursday Night Football\u2019s\u201d Charissa Thompson then arrived, who touted that Amazon\u2019s NFL Wild Card game delivered over 31 million viewers. During a segment where Thompson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Andrew Whitworth were \u201ctaking questions from the audience,\u201d NFL star Matthew Stafford took the stage from the crowd for some sports banter. <\/p>\n

\n\tUp next was the cast and creator of the upcoming YA series \u201cOff Campus,\u201d which debuts on Prime Video on May 13. They were joined onstage by Courtenay Valenti and Peter Friedlander, Amazon\u2019s heads of film and television respectively. <\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon has also made making several splashy announcements an annual tradition at their upfront. This year, Prime Video announced a Season 5 renewal of \u201cReacher,\u201d <\/a>a series pickup for the romantic drama \u201cRose Hill,\u201d<\/a> Aaron Paul joining \u201cFallout<\/a>,\u201d acclaimed director Nia DaCosta boarding \u201cSex Criminals,\u201d<\/a> a premiere date for Season 3 <\/a>of \u201cThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power\u201d as well as the Hannah Waddingham-Octavia Spencer spy show<\/a> \u201cRide or Die,\u201d and the pickup of the unscripted series \u201cReality Retreat.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tBut that\u2019s not all. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Terminal List\u201d star Chris Pratt made an appearance to reveal that Season 2 of the military drama will launch on October 21, more than four years after the first season of the show.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe long-gestating \u201cFourth Wing\u201d TV series has officially been greenlit<\/a>, which was announced by none other than recent Oscar winner and series executive producer Michael B. Jordan<\/a>. He was joined by Lisa Joy, author Rebecca Yaros, and showrunner Meredith Averill. <\/p>\n

\n\tBut \u201cFourth Wing\u201d is not Jordan\u2019s only project at Amazon. He is also behind the upcoming Muhammad Ali series \u201cThe Greatest\u201d at Prime Video as well as the \u201cCreed\u201d spinoff \u201cDelphi,\u201d while he will also star in the upcoming remake of \u201cThe Thomas Crown Affair.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon ad sales boss Alan Moss had the difficult task of closing the show, which he did gamely with help from last year\u2019s Amazon upfront star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who came out once again to hype his upcoming Amazon movie \u201cThe Man with the Bag,\u201d in which he will play Santa Claus.
