Rod Stewart still knows how to party at 81 – celebrating Celtic’s crushing win over arch rivals Rangers on Sunday<\/p>\n

Legendary crooner Sir Rod Stewart<\/a> painted the town green as he celebrated his beloved Celtic\u2019s<\/a> Old Firm victory. The Hoops\u2019 most famous <\/a>fan went as far as getting his nails painted on the eve of the big match, which Celtic won to get their title bid very much back on track.<\/p>\n

Wife Penny <\/a>identified the perfect shade and the fun-loving Maggie May singer showed off his green digits as he partied for two days in Glasgow – taking in the Old Firm<\/a> clash in between visits to favourite pubs.<\/a> Locals at the Wunderbar were stunned when 81- year-old Rod and an entourage including son Alastair popped in, with several among the group joining in the singing on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

And Rod happily chatted to fellow drinkers at Murphy\u2019s Bar on Bell Street in the hours after the final whistle in the 3-1 win. Rod\u2019s Scottish pal John McLaughlin said they\u2019d enjoyed the best atmosphere in years inside Celtic Park – then cut loose for a few drinks.<\/p>\n

Lady Penny Lancaster offered her services in painting Sir Rod’s fingernails green. <\/p>\n

Songwriter and musician John – who fronts the Johnny and the Faithfuls band said: \u201cThe season has been getting to crunch time, so the nerves were a bit frayed. Rod was hoping to summon every omen he could think of so he took up Penny\u2019s offer of doing his nails green – and it seems to have done the trick.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had another great day at Parkhead and Rod get a flight back to London after a few post-match drinks. Like every other Celtic fan, he\u2019s ecstatic at the way the team has woken up to the challenge and we are definitely in with a shout now if we win the last two matches.\u201d<\/p>\n

John said Rod and other pals enjoyed a meal at the swish Ivy restaurant in the city centre on Saturday night. The Glaswegian rocker and Rod bonded over a shared love for Celtic FC and music. Rod has described John\u2019s band as one of his favourite opening acts.<\/p>\n

John, who has written many songs for successful chart acts like Westlife and Busted. He also co-wrote the track \u201cJulia\u201d on Rod Stewart\u2019s 2018 album Blood Red Roses. Sir Rod will closely watching Celtic\u2019s last two league games of the season against Motherwell on Wednesday and then a potential title showdown with Hearts on Saturday.<\/p>\n
