The Gia Binh International Airport is being built near Hanoi and is projected to handle 30 million passengers a year by 2030 and 50 million by 2050. It will cost about \u20ac6.4bn to construct.<\/p>\n
DAA International is the airports management, consulting and investment arm of DAA, the semi-state company that operates Dublin Airport and Cork Airport.<\/p>\n
The appointment comes on foot of a strategic partnership between DAA International and Masterise Aviation Infrastructure. The latter is part of the privately-owned Masterise Group, a major property development group based in Vietnam.<\/p>\n
Gia Binh International Airport is intended to become a flagship aviation, trade and logistics hub, supported by modern operational systems, a strong commercial offering and extensive global connectivity.<\/p>\n
DAA International will work with Masterise Aviation Infrastructure to support the development and day-to-day operation of the airport.<\/p>\n
That will include input across key areas such as airport development planning, certification and regulatory readiness, operational concept design, commercial strategy, operational readiness and airport management.<\/p>\n
DAA International currently has airport management contracts with gateways such as the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the Red Sea International Airport, also in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
The DAA\u2019s ARI unit also manages retail stores in 24 locations in more than a dozen countries around the world, including Canada, Indonesia and Portugal.<\/p>\n
Nick Cole, the DAA\u2019s deputy CEO and the chief executive of DAA International, welcomed the agreement secured in Vietnam.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a landmark project for Vietnam, and we look forward to bringing DAA International\u2019s experience and Irish aviation heritage to support the delivery of a high\u2011quality, future\u2011focused airport that sets new benchmarks for connectivity, passenger experience, and operational excellence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Cole added that DAA International will also work with partners to develop long-term local capability and expertise in Vietnam.<\/p>\n
Last year, DAA International generated revenue of \u20ac47m, up from \u20ac44m in 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough the business achieved significant success in major milestones across its operations, it was adversely impacted by exchange rate losses relating to contracts in Saudi Arabia, which are denominated in local currencies,\u201d noted the DAA\u2019s most recent annual report.<\/p>\n
Last month, Gary Owens was named the new chairman of the DAA.
