Nick Cave<\/a>\u00a0has revealed\u00a0The Bad Seeds<\/a>\u00a0are \u201cmessing around\u201d in the studio with the \u201cvague idea of making a new record\u201d.<\/p>\n

The band released their most recent studio album \u2018Wild God<\/a>\u2019 \u2013 their 18th\u00a0in total \u2013 in 2024,\u00a0but after two years, it looks like their minds are now shifting to their next LP.<\/p>\n

Writing on his\u00a0Red Hand Files<\/a>\u00a0blog this week, Cave let slip about the group\u2019s current activity while answering a fan\u2019s question about his sleeping habits.<\/p>\n

After explaining that his nights tend to be made up of two separate three-hour sleeps, he said after waking up and putting on a suit, he heads to work, adding, \u201cthis morning, I am going to Islington to mess around in the studio\u201d with his fellow Bad Seeds Martyn P. Casey, Thomas Wydler, Jim Sclavunos and Warren\u00a0Ellis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said that their time in the studio together is based on \u201cthe vague idea of perhaps making a new record\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Bad Seeds are playing\u00a0a huge homecoming show at Brighton\u2019s Preston Park on July 31<\/a>\u00a0as part of\u00a0their UK and European tour<\/a>, with a huge support bill set to include\u00a0The Flaming Lips<\/a>,\u00a0English Teacher<\/a>,\u00a0Cate Le Bon<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Warmduscher<\/a>. The group will appear at\u00a0numerous\u00a0summer festivals, too, such as\u00a0Mad Cool<\/a>,\u00a0NOS Alive<\/a>, Best Kept Secret,\u00a0Montreux Jazz Festival<\/a>,\u00a0Open\u2019er<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0\u00d8ya<\/a>. Earlier this year,\u00a0they headed out on the road in Australia and New Zealand<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0Cave appeared on Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea\u2019s recent debut solo album, \u2018Honora\u2019<\/a>, alongside\u00a0Radiohead<\/a>\u00a0frontman\u00a0Thom Yorke<\/a>. He also\u00a0recorded a new version of \u2018Red Right Hand\u2019<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A career-spanning anthology for the late Bad Seed Conway Savage has also been announced<\/a>, to be released on July 17.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0awarded \u2018Wild God\u2019 four stars in 2024<\/a>, noting:\u00a0\u201cBad Seeds records are infamously loaded with gothic doom and gloom. Of course, this ain\u2019t a poptastic LOLfest, and still coloured with the many shades of a life so challenging and weathered. But never has Cave been so freewheelin\u2019 than on the giddy \u2018Frogs\u2019, \u201cJumping for love and the opening sky above\u201d as \u201cKris Kristofferson walks by kicking a can in a shirt he hasn\u2019t washed for\u00a0years\u201c. With a lust for life, the once-dark prince is letting the light in.\u201d<\/p>\n
