\n\tAdam Sandler<\/a> is getting the gang back together for Grown Ups<\/a> 3.<\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix<\/a> announced during its upfronts<\/a> presentation Wednesday in New York City that a third movie is officially in the works for the comedy franchise that kicked off with 2010\u2019s star-studded original Grown Ups. Kyle Newacheck<\/a> is set to direct the film from a script by Sandler and longtime writing partner Tim Herlihy. <\/p>\n

\n\tPlot details and casting news have not been shared. Sandler, Herlihy, Jackie Sandler and Jack Giarraputo serve as producers, while Kevin Grady and Judit Maull executive produce. <\/p>\n

\n\tSony released Grown Ups in theaters in June 2010 with a cast that included Sandler, Kevin James<\/a>, Chris Rock<\/a>, David Spade<\/a>, Rob Schneider<\/a> and Salma Hayek<\/a>. Centering on five boyhood friends reuniting after the death of their beloved basketball coach, director Dennis Dugan<\/a>\u2018s film surpassed $270 million at the global box office. It spawned a 2013 sequel that added Andy Samberg, Taylor Lautner and Patrick Schwarzenegger to the fray.<\/p>\n

\n\tNewacheck directed Sandler in last year\u2019s Netflix sequel Happy Gilmore 2, with the comedy about the temper-prone golfer landing the streamer\u2019s biggest U.S. film launch<\/a>. Newacheck is also known for Workaholics and the Netflix feature Murder Mystery, starring Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. <\/p>\n

\n\tThere was speculation last year that a third Grown Ups movie might finally happen, with James mentioning<\/a> that fans \u201ccan keep hope alive.\u201d Back in 2015, Dugan told THR<\/a>, \u201cThere\u2019s been talk of another\u00a0Grown Ups, but I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know where that stands.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a conversation with THR<\/a> last summer to celebrate the streaming<\/a> success of Happy Gilmore 2, Herlihy noted that more sequels to Sandler\u2019s titles could be on the way. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis throws it open,\u201d Herlihy said. He added with a laugh, \u201cDefinitely not sure we want to just be in the business of doing sequels to movies.
