Cherney<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">SAN FRANCISCO, May 13 (Reuters) &#8211; The foundation of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and \u200chis wife, Lori, is buying computing time from \u200cCoreWeave and donating it to universities and other nonprofit institutes, according \u200bto a filing that valued the donation at $108.3 million so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">According to a filing on Tuesday, the computing resources will be used for science and <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;artificial intelligence&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> research. \u200cNvidia plans to offer \u2060free engineering services to some of the grant recipients, it said in the filing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">While \u2060the gift demonstrates Huang&#8217;s largesse, it also represents another support measure from Nvidia to CoreWeave, a cloud computing company \u200bthat specializes \u200bin AI applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Nvidia designs \u200bthe graphics processing units, \u200cor GPUs, that CoreWeave offers customers. In January, Nvidia invested $2 billion in CoreWeave to become, at the time, the company&#8217;s second-largest shareholder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Nvidia signed a $6.3 billion deal last year for cloud computing capacity with CoreWeave that guarantees the \u200cAI chip company will purchase \u200bany cloud capacity not sold to \u200bcustomers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The chip giant \u200bhas drawn scrutiny for investing billions of \u200cdollars into AI firms including \u200bChatGPT maker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/organizations\/openai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:OpenAI;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;OpenAI&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a> \u200band neoclouds, raising investor concerns about potential circular financing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">CoreWeave raised the lower end of its capital spending \u200bforecast last \u200cweek when it reported results, citing higher prices \u200bof components.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">(Reporting by Max A.
