The 28-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson had accused executors John Branca and John McClain of abusing their access to the estate, of which she and her brothers (Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24) are beneficiaries. According to court documents obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/paris-jackson-legal-win-michael-jackson-executors-return-625k-bonus-payments-11973862\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">People<\/a>, payments made to third-party law firms by the executors must now be \u201creturned\u201d to the estate, and Paris is now entitled to any attorneys\u2019 fees and costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.thecut.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmp4kvb4d00133b7d4aan6tou@published\" data-word-count=\"126\">The news comes just a couple weeks after the premiere of Michael, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/article\/paris-jackson-michael-biopic-colman-domingo-drama.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">biopic<\/a> about Jackson and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/review-michael-isnt-a-movie-its-a-wax-museum.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his meteoric rise to fame<\/a>. The most vocal of the siblings, Paris has largely been responsible for speaking to the press about the public\u2019s perception of her family and late father and was adamant that she wanted nothing to do with the project. Last year, Paris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/article\/paris-jackson-michael-biopic-colman-domingo-drama.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">posted<\/a> on Instagram Stories to announce that she had no involvement in the film, despite the fact that her cousin Jaafar Jackson stars in the movie and her brother Prince served as a producer. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of inaccuracies and there\u2019s a lot of full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn\u2019t really fly with me,\u201d she said at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.thecut.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmp4kvb7400143b7dnqzp2e3v@published\" data-word-count=\"74\">The film\u2019s box-office success aside, Paris Jackson has scored a major victory with this estate battle. \u201cMs. Jackson\u2019s objection to the $625,000 of bonus payments made in the second six months of 2018 is sustained \u2026 The payments shall be returned to the estate,\u201d the motion reads. \u201cMs. Jackson may bring a motion for her reasonable attorneys\u2019 fees and costs under the common fund theory for her meritorious objection to the executors\u2019 fee petition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.thecut.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmp4kvbh300153b7dl7vxhp7o@published\" data-word-count=\"66\">\u201cThe court did not in any way say that executors had made any inappropriate payments to themselves,\u201d attorneys for the estate told People in a statement on Wednesday, adding that executors \u201ccreated real and substantial generational wealth for the estate\u2019s beneficiaries.\u201d They went on: \u201cWe are gratified that the Court itself recognized and praised the work of the executors and its outside counsel in today\u2019s decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.thecut.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmp4kvbjp00163b7deq3qlewi@published\" data-word-count=\"83\">A spokesperson for Paris, meanwhile, told the outlet that she \u201chas always been focused on what\u2019s best for her family and this ruling is a massive win for them.\u201d The statement read: \u201cAfter years of delay, the Jackson family will finally get the transparency and accountability measures Paris has fought for. The Jackson estate is supposed to be a prudent, fiscally responsible entity that supports the Jackson family \u2013 not a slush fund to help John Branca live out his Hollywood mogul fantasies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.thecut.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmp4kvbm900173b7dekql99ge@published\" data-word-count=\"57\">Last month, Paris filed a document claiming that the executors used the media to \u201cattack\u201d her in an \u201cunacceptable\u201d manner, while using their status reports to \u201cmock and belittle\u201d her, per People.
