{"id":483711,"date":"2026-05-14T04:22:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T04:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/483711\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T04:22:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T04:22:11","slug":"ai-boom-puts-sk-hynix-on-the-cusp-1-trillion-market-value","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/483711\/","title":{"rendered":"AI boom puts SK Hynix on the cusp $1 trillion market value"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">SEOUL, May 14 (Reuters) &#8211; SK Hynix is on the verge of topping a $1 trillion market value, just weeks after Samsung Electronics crossed the milestone, \u200cas strong demand for <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;artificial intelligence&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> places South Korea at the heart \u200cof Asia&#8217;s AI boom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">SK Hynix shares have risen more than 200% this year, after rising an eye-watering \u200b274% in 2025, driven by AI-related demand for both conventional memory chips and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips used in AI servers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">If SK Hynix joins Samsung above the trillion-dollar threshold, South Korea would become the first country outside the United States to have more than \u200cone trillion-dollar company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;The market is \u2060running on FOMO sentiments, especially on AI-related names in Japan and Korea,&#8221; said Fabien Yip, market analyst at IG in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Samsung became \u2060Korea&#8217;s first trillion-dollar company earlier this month, although Taiwan&#8217;s TSMC remains Asia&#8217;s biggest company by market value at over $1.83 trillion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The three chipmakers and their record earnings have put the \u200bspotlight on \u200btheir critical role in the global AI \u200bsupply chain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">South Korea&#8217;s benchmark KOSPI index \u200chas climbed in near-vertical fashion, hitting record highs as foreign investors both big and small have poured into chipmakers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The index is up more than 86% this year, after soaring 75% in 2025 in its strongest annual performance since 1999.
