{"id":484128,"date":"2026-05-14T10:38:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T10:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/484128\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T10:38:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T10:38:15","slug":"is-irelands-housing-market-finally-turning-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/484128\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Ireland\u2019s housing market finally turning? \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/housing-crisis\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/housing-crisis\/\">Housing<\/a> remains the main economic concern for tens of thousands of aspiring homeowners, with every nugget of information analysed for insight into future prospects. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Right now, there are several possible trends that could dampen house prices in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">These include higher interest rates on the back of the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/energy-crisis\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/energy-crisis\/\">energy price<\/a> shock; the ongoing price squeeze that has many households put to the pin of their collective collars; and geopolitical uncertainty which can deter prospective buyers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">These potential negatives are, of course, being offset by ongoing supply shortages and strong demand, particularly in the starter home segment of the market, which is dominated by first-time buyers armed with Government supports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">But this could change. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The latest official barometer from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\">Central Statistics Office<\/a> put the annual rate of growth at 6.5 per cent in March, down from 6.7 per cent the previous month, and the lowest since February. The rate of price growth in Dublin was 5.7 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A prolonged energy price shock could result in another sequence of interest rate hikes.
