Vin Diesel cried over his late \u201cFast and Furious\u201d co-star Paul Walker at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.<\/a><\/p>\n

Before a special screening of the first \u201cFast\u201d movie in honor of the franchise\u2019s 25th anniversary on Wednesday, Diesel gave an emotional speech about Paul, who died in a car accident in November 2013 at age 40.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pray that in your life you have a brother like Paul,\u201d Diesel, 58, said through tears<\/a> inside the Grand Lumiere Theatre.<\/p>\n

Diesel (seen above with Meadow and co-stars Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez) gave an emotional speech about his relationship with Paul, who died in a car crash in November 2013 at age 40. FilmMagic<\/p>\n

Diesel \u2014 who gave his speech in front of co-stars Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez and Paul\u2019s daughter, Meadow Walker<\/a> \u2014 admitted it\u2019s \u201chard\u201d to watch the 2001 film because of the memories he has of Paul, whom he still calls Pablo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so many moments in this movie that you see, that I see differently,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe scene that you see, I see the moment Pablo told me he had a 1-year-old daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diesel then pulled in Meadow, his goddaughter, for a hug and introduced the 27-year-old, who was 15 when her dad died.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a film where brotherhood was introduced to our millennium, by myself and my brother Pablo. The person that was not going to let me come alone here to represent that brotherhood was Meadow Walker,\u201d he shared. <\/p>\n

\u00a0Diesel added, \u201cI\u2019m gonna go and shed a tear real quick.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d actor ended his remarks by sharing what Meadow told him earlier in the day. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe said, \u2018I\u2019m 27, and I\u2019m watching this film that my father made at 27,\u2019 and I thought, \u2018How profound,\u2019\u201d Diesel said. <\/p>\n

\u201cMeadow has been such a source of strength, and I know he\u2019d be so proud of you,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Paul played Brian O\u2019Conner in six \u201cFast & Furious\u201d movies before his tragic death.<\/p>\n

In 2015\u2019s \u201cFast & Furious 7,\u201d producers used CGI, doubles and\u00a0Paul\u2019s brothers,<\/a>\u00a0Caleb and\u00a0Cody, as stand-ins to give the late actor\u2019s character a proper sendoff.<\/p>\n

Years after her dad\u2019s death, Meadow, who Paul welcomed with ex Rebecca Soteros, made a cameo in\u00a02023\u2019s \u201cFast X\u201d<\/a>\u00a0as a flight attendant.<\/p>\n

At Cannes, Diesel spoke about his excitement for the 11th and final film in the franchise, \u201cFast Forever,\u201d set for release in 2028.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only reason why we\u2019re making the\u00a0finale for\u00a0\u2018Fast\u2019 for 2028\u2026 It\u2019s because of each and every one of you that has given us your hearts and your loyalty,\u201d Diesel told the crowd at the screening. <\/p>\n

\u201cEach and every one of you that has felt like you are a part of our family,\u201d he went on. \u201cYou make us have to continue.
